Review: Panda Bear aka Noah Lennox has been one of the more prolific solo artists to come out of the Animal Collective fold. Buoys presents a second album on UK independent Domino and his sixth solo album overall offers something of a new direction. Made in co-production with Rusty Santos (from The Present) the pair have delivered a work routed in hip hop and beat-making inspirations taking Panda Bear's music into a dubby and bass music realm. At times reminiscent of Ed Banger & Mr. Oizo quirkiness, alongside a trademark guitar sound and vocals drenched in reverb, the dub culture influence mixed in with the folk, and pop abnormalities, prove there's a deep layer of experimentation to Panda Bear's music yet.

Review: This remix is nothing new, having already been released in edited form on a 7" single earlier in 2011. But on hearing this 12 minute long version you'll see what a travesty it was to not be released this way in the first place. Opening with five minutes of marimba melody and sampled ocean sounds, with Noah Lennox's vocals cut into rectangular shards, it has all the rounded lushness of Panda Bear's production coupled with Actress's dark, compressed edges. But it's only when it gets into its second half that the real power of this remix becomes apparent, when the sub bass begins to build and the crunchy toms bring in a whole new ferocity to the track. One of the best things released on Kompakt for a long time.

Review: Animal Collective member Panda Bear (aka Noah Lennox) boldly returns with his long-awaited third solo record "Person Pitch". Years in the making, "Person Pitch" marks a dramatic departure from Panda Bear's previous solo record "Young Prayer". The acoustic instruments of Young Prayer have been replaced with samplers and electronics. Fusing Panda's dramatic life changes over the past few years (marriage, moving to Lisbon, becoming a father) with his ever-increasing sonic palette, "Person Pitch" is suffused with the kind of feel-good modern toe-tapping pop that seems harder and harder to find these days. Paw Tracks feels that the passing of time will show Panda Bear's "Person Pitch" sitting alongside the great solo albums of Paul McCartney, George Michael and Ghostface Killah. Luckily we don't have to wait.

Review: Noah Lennox, in his Panda Bear guise, has always walked a tightrope of sorts, with his third-eye cleansing psyched-out talents - as shown on 2007's landmark opus Person Pitch - occasionally waylaid by the odd drift into self-indulgence. Yet when he's firing on all cylinders, there are no more formidable exponents of sampleadelic boundary-destroying bliss, and Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper finds him on formidable form-these laments and sweet pop nuggets may be constructed from disparate sources and swamped in dub-style echo and reverb to achieve a woozy soft-focus effect, yet their radiance and fresh invention remains manifest. In spite of its title, this is as life-affirming as Lennox has ever sounded.

Review: Panda Bear aka. Noah Lennox is best known for his formative membership of experimental pop surrealist troupe, Animal Collective. But the Panda Bear alias itself is nowadays of almost equal stature, similarly blending psychedelia, folk, electronic and ambient influences for further, less-restrained takes on the sound. Here on 'Reset In Dub', Lennox reunites with Peter Kember - a former member of the influential space rock band Spacemen 3 - and legendary dub producer Adrian Sherwood. In dubwise style, Sherwood comes through to remix all nine tracks on Lennox and Kember's prior collaborative LP Reset, amounting to a multi-layered, adventurous retake.
