Review: There are few borders to NTHNG's sounds. His debut album 'It Never Ends' made a big impression back in 2017 as it mixed up dub, deepness and techno and he has since impressed with plenty of lo-fi sounds and ambient bliss-outs on labels like Lobster Theremin and Lobster Sleep Sequence as well as dropping his more raw techno Delsin. Here he is in soundscaping mode again but also drops some slick electro, downbeat and Balearic sound on There Is A Place For Me on Transatlantic. It is a cosmic work of widescreen design and immersive effect.

So much so, in fact, that he's curbed some of the trippy and mind-mangling aspects of his personal style on Sub-Sonar. Instead, he's reached towards the picturesque, first unfurling some dew-fresh ambient melodiousness ('Looking Outside'), before sonically doffing a cap to his dub techno roots on the deep techno loveliness of 'Liberate Truth'. He delves even deeper on the impeccable title track, adding bleeping lead lines to sumptuous chords, becalmed aural textures and smooth beats, while '1 2 Butterfly' is a dreamy and loved-up foray into late 90s, LTJ Bukem style ambient D&B.

Review: With acclaimed releases on Mork, Lobster Theremin, Delsin and Pacific Command already under his belt, nthng is on the fast track to top-tier success. Much of the producer's reputation has been built on adaptability, with previous releases mixing and matching various strains of techno, electro and lo-fi house. His second appearance on Transatlantic brings with it another stylistic shift. Seemingly born out of early morning studio sessions and late night drifts into daydreaming, the four tracks that make up "Shine" brilliantly fuse elements of Pete Namlook style deep space ambient (see "Shine"), gradually unfurling, Global Communication style soundscapes ("Atom") and unfeasibly deep, out-there ambient techno ("Embryo", "Lyla").
