John Barera - "True To Yourself"
Review: Dirt Crew's popular Deep Love series returns for a fifteenth time, with another all-star cast of label favourites and special guests providing a quintet of smooch-friendly deep house treats. Brame & Hamo kick things off with the twinkling pianos, soft focus vocal samples and jazz-flecked beats of "Triple Treat", before Nachtbraker pushes the acid bass up to 11 on the cosmic rumble of "Catch Up". Homework's "Pliester" is a warm and woozy delight full of blissful electronic pianos and US garage influenced chords, while Voyeur impresses with the bumpin', jazz-flecked deep house soul of "The Long Way Home". It's Local Talk regular Kyodai who steals the show, too, with the loopy, off-kilter shuffle of "Tleflicht".

Saine - "Prime Chops" (6:13)
Nachtbreaker - "Totally Not Mistique" (7:07)
Gnork - "Chord Tool" (5:26)
Review: Quartet Series is a fresh imprint based between Milan and Amsterdam and run by Nachtbraker and KiSk. Inaugurating their new label is Crackazat (from Uppsala, Sweden) with his 80's pop- house excursion "Lindop Circles" (which is so lovably cheesy) and Saine with the deep and sexy slo-mo disco of "Prime Chops". On the flip there's also Nachtbreaker himself with "Totally Not Mystique" (which sounds like an outtake from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack) and Gnork with "Chord Tool" which sounds like early Underground Resistance or 808 State.

Nachtbraker - "You're Out Of Your Element" (Detroit Swindle remix) (7:02)
Detroit Swindle - "Alright We'll Be" (M Ono remix) (7:17)
M Ono - "Delaware State Route" (Nachtbraker remix) (6:10)
Review: Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings serve up a bunch of sweet remixes for proper house heads. Irish lads Brame & Hamo remix Fouk's "Lefty's Bar", its a sweet slice of slow-mo house that's worth a listen. Fouk then returns the favour, remixing their track "Hotshot", giving it a sleazy deep funk flavour that's unashamedly indebted to KDJ. On the flip are label head honchos Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets giving Nachtbraker's "You'e Out Of Your Element" a deep trippy tech house makeover that's perfect to use as your pre-peak time track. Oh, their track "Alright We'll Be" gets a sultry and adrenalised rework by Leipzig's M.ono. The confusion all ends in spectacular fashion with Maurits Verwoerd aka Nachtbraker's turn at a remix. He gives M.ono's "Delaware State Route" a tracky and percussive house remodel that could have equally been at home on Sascha Dive's Deep Vibes imprint.

Nachtbraker - "Marcus Howl" (7:08)
Huerta - "Larry Seeker" (5:37)
Review: You might have thought Florida breaks were an old-timey thing, but Miami's Sports Records proves otherwise with this. This freshest split 12". 'Sports Vol. 3' hears individual contributions from Liquid Earth, Daisy Boy, Nachtbreaker and Huerta added to the fore, beginning on the scratch-up Mario Kart-esque breaks n' tones of 'Spooky Snorkel' and ending on the b-boy's laser-fire that is 'Seekers'. Limited to 500 copies, you don't want to miss this latest addition, best for fans of Telephones or Kalahari Oyster Cult.

Review: Dutch enfant terrible Maurits Verwoerd aka Nachtbraker returns to his eponymous imprint with more cheeky deep house experiments, following up some great ones on Aus Music and Quartet Series. The Bay Be Blu EP sure keeps up the quality: from the neon-lit ocean drive of the title track with its emotive synths against a backdrop of UK style breakbeats, to 'Warmer' where the tough rhythms continue. On this one, you'll hear his personal field recordings on the beaches of Barcelona, complete with jungle style sub-bass, yet all the while remaining defiantly deep house. On the flip, he nails the afterhours sound perfectly on the rolling and hypnotic 'Tangelo Dreams' followed by the UK pirate radio vibe of 'Drip' and its two-step influence.

Review: Delectable Dutch deep house don Nachtbraker is taking a trip back to his 2018 LP "When You Find A Stranger In The Alps", and inviting a grip of tidy remixers to deliver distinctive new versions of some of the album's key tracks. Of particular note here are the playful electro delights of Frits Wentink's take on "Lol", and the trippy percussion and echo chamber FX of Nemo Vachez's dub mix of "Horsepony". With some more direct house versions to balance out the more experimental leanings on the record, it's a perfect all-rounder.

When You Wake Up
Review: Some four years and umpteen EPs have passed since Nachtbraker made his debut on Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings label. This debut album, then, is arguably long overdue. "When You Find A Stranger In The Alps" is an exceptionally strong collection of cuts, with the Dutch producer effortlessly flitting between ambient interludes, head-nodding downtempo beats and the floor-friendly fare he's renowned for delivering. There's much eclecticism within that latter category, too. There are plenty of melodic deep house floor-fillers, of course ("Flambo", "Randy"), but you'll also hear reggae-tinged club tracks ("NSFW"), bouncy techno ("You Can't Run"), soul and disco-inspired mid-tempo shufflers ("The Dream Sequence", "Just Doing My Thang") and funk rock smashers ("Aliens"). In other words, it ticks a lot of boxes whilst remaining enjoyable and entertaining throughout.

Small Towel People (6:02)
Kippendijen (6:23)
Zomaar (7:33)
Review: Amsterdam based house hooligan Maurits Verwoerd aka Nachtbraker returns with more dusted down and funked-up disco house shenanigans for Quartet Series - the imprint he's been running since 2016. Although he's also flaunted his wares for homeboys Heist, Berlin's Dirt Crew and Hudd Traxx in recent times too. "Small Towel People" features a tough rolling rhythm beneath a collage of cheeky loops and samples, and the equally cyclical/MPC-sounding jam "Kippendijen" uses the same approach but with more restraint. On the flip, we've got the rather sleek "Zomaar" which is reminiscent of the French Touch style that came out of Paris in the late '90s - but with a mean broken beat behind it!

You're Out Of Your Element (7:02)
Review: Following a recent outing on Hudd Traxx, Dutch DJ/producer Nachtbraker returns to Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings with four more chunks of floor-friendly deep house. There's much to admire throughout, from the squidgy basslines, relentless cymbals and floatation tank chords of "Dark Roast", to the loose-limbed, triple-beat-goes-jazz flex of the wonderfully fluid title track. The eyes-closed chords, intricate melodies and undulating acid lines of the smoother "Gurl" impress, as does "You're Out of Your Element", a warm, rich and jazzy homage to Detroit deep house blessed with all manner of aural Motor City trademarks.

Zachtjes (Borrowed Identity remix)
You Is What You Ain't
Overstappen
Review: On the back of 2 well received releases on Dirt Crew & Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings, Dutch native Nachtbraker drops a beauty on Hudd Traxx. Zachtjes kicks things off in fine melodical style with live drums, lush keys and a smooth sax lick for good measure. Borrowed Identity mixes things up on the remix tip with a more upbeat dubby tool which is likley to find it's way into the hands of DJ's like Derrick Carter & Prosumer. The title track 'You Is What You Aint' is a moody groover with slick keys and sleezy beats perfect for warm ups or end of the night vibes. Nachtbraker rounds off the EP nicely with Overstappen last, but by no means least. Skippy beats and a killer bassline ensure that this EP is another 'must have' for the Hudd faithful as they near 50 releases and 10 Years in the business.

Christopher Rau - "Give It" (5:24)
Titonton Duvante - "Pursuit Of Ma'at" (6:12)
S-Max - "Lil' Lightyear Wants To Ride" (5:49)
Review: There are four heavyweight names on this next one from Residual: Dutchman and Red Light Radio man Nachtbraker goes first with the dark and loopy "Ojo Rojos" which keeps you on edge. German deep houser Christopher Rau layers up and elastic bassline with some warm acid. Cult American house man and Residual boss then steps up with "Pursuit Of Ma'at" which is one of his famously smooth minimal rollers. Last of all, another pivotal German artist in S-Max closes things out with "Lil' Lightyear Wants To Ride" a bubbly number with a drilling bassline and sci-fi motifs. Very useful stuff.

Tommy Vicari Jnr - "Aplomb" (7:15)
LK - "Honey" (4:35)
Review: The comic book-inspired Quartet Series returns to action, with another four studio superheroes joining the label's unofficial 'League of Extraordinary House Producers'. Returning hero Nachtbraker kicks things off with "Dobie", a quirky foray into percussion rich, jazz-house territory that packs serious dancefloor punch. Laurence Guy successfully breaks up the beats on the deep and woozy "Love & Be Loved", while Tommy Vicardi Jnr works his DJ Sneak style beats and cut-up samples hard on the deliciously energetic "Aplomb". Finally, LK doffs a cap to R&B, hip-hop and Detroit deep house on the pitched-down 4/4 shuffle of closer "Honey", which should appeal to those who enjoy the work of Marcel Vogel, Inkswel and Andres.

Nachtbraker - "Bluebottle" (Frits Wentink remix)
Max Graef & Andy Hart - "Jungle" (Nachtbraker remix)
Frits Wentink - "Schrewd" (The Organ Grinder remix)
Review: This deluxe 12" and 10" package is the first in what Detroit Swindle promise will be an annual occurrence - a "family remix EP", where members of the Heist Recordings roster rework label releases from the previous 12 months. It's a neat idea, and one that's undoubtedly resulted in some killer material. The Organ Grinder's surging, heavily percussive rework of Frits Wentik's "Schrewd" is particularly heavy, though it is Max Graef's loose, soulful, groovy and sample-heavy reinterpretation of Detroit Swindle's "The Break Up" is probably the standout. That said, there's plenty to cheer elsewhere, not least Nachtbraker's cowbell-laden, acid house-meets-nu-disco version of Max Graef and Andy Hart's "Jungle".
