  1. Thomass Jackson - "Urzsula"
  2. Simple Symmetry & Inigo Vontier - "Prayer To The Spiritual"
  3. Facets - "Distant Chants"
  4. Marvin & Guy - "There's No Matter"
Review: After the sold-out first edition of Correcciones, Mexican label Calypso returns with Volume 2 of the series, unveiling four strong contenders for Edit of the Year. Starting things off, Calypso co-label boss Thomass Jackson has his way with a weirdo Polish jazz/fusion/funk track that keeps turning left while continually finding the right direction.
Russian label regulars Simple Symmetry join forces with co-label boss INigo Vontier to deliver a "monster peak-time mantra" that's as perfect for morning rites as it is for nocturnal adventures.
On the B-side, New York's Facets slows down the tempo of an old goa gem - the result has already gotten support from the likes of Intergalactic Gary, Alexis Le Tan and many others.
Volume 2 closes out in the hands of Italian dandys Marvin & Guy, who offer a magnificent take on a forgotten disco classic.
Timeless edits indeed.

  1. Keep On
  2. Sunday
Review: KZA welcomes Marvin Dan III and Lee "The Black Belt" Guy back for a second outing on his prolific Let's Get Lost imprint with suitably incendiary results. The great Arthur Russell is the subject of revision on "Keep On" with Marvin & Guy expertly rewiring a classic into one long lolloping, echo laden groove. The flip provides a stylistic contrast as "Sunday" drags you unmercifully into acid throbbing proto house territory, replete with cooing diva harmonies, huge piano riffs and knackered kick drums. Like much of the previous output on Let's Get Lost, both sides should ensure this 12" will remain in your box for a good while.

Review: Extremely limited, only 300 copies of this 12 minute dub wig-out have been pressed and they've promised no represses and certainly no digital. Cosmic with a heavy lolloping bass plod (think Norway's burgeoning sound in the mid noughties) expect to be completely washed out by shimmering oceanic guitar strums that sound like a really slo-mo, heavily processed sample of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" (but probably aren't). As the groove spirals into hypnotic bliss, the 12 minutes pass with a blink of the eye. Deliciously deep; Even a 30 minute edit of this wouldn't be long enough.

  1. Dance Ability (The Journey) (10:07)
  2. Dancity (feat Athena) (7:04)
  3. Dancenergy (7:10)
Review: Marvin & Guy launch Young Adults' 2015 with a fresh, thrilling three-tracker in the familiarly disco-infected take on house music. The dupo's own M&G edits have now solidified their sound and we can only expect total dancefloor quality from the pair. As expected, Dance Ability certainly doesn't disappoint and their trademark blend of tight loops and acoustic instrument is more prominent than ever! "Dance Ability (The Journey)" is an ultra-deep, psychedelic synth journey accompanied by a relentless 4/4 swagger; "Dancecity" features Athena and goes into a funked-out jazz mode thanks to those cool horns and seductive vocals, while "Dancenergy" picks up the tempo and heads back to the floor...where Marvin & Guy always rule with an iron fist.

  1. Disco Panorama
  2. Jungle Woman
Review: Let's Get Lost is an edits label started by Japanese imprint Mule Musiq and Endless Flight authority KZA - famous for his Dig And Edit Compilation of 2009. It's Marvin and Guy's third appearance on the label after debuting in 2011 between Jacques Renault and Eddie C releases. "Disco Panorama" is a pumping and cosmic disco bender, harbouring a touch of something a little sinister - like having Tornado Wallace soundtrack Carrie. On the Flipside is "Jungle Woman", an edit played like Stevie Wonder thrashing out his ARP 2600 with elements of the Arthur Russell produced "Tiger Stripes" by Felix thrown in.

  1. Egoista (7:08)
  2. Cancion (Para Ti) (7:00)
  3. The Man Who Lost The Hat (8:20)
Review: Marvin Dan III and Lee "The Black Belt" Guy debut on the excellent Hivern Discs with the Egoista 12" and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and understanding of what makes a dancefloor tick. Most recently spotted on US label Young Adults, Marvin & Guy are known best for the series of cosmic disco mind benders issued for Let's Get Lost, On The Prowl, and their own eponymous label. That sense of cosmic sprawl is very much in evidence on this three track 12" with the seven minute title cut setting the tone, sounding akin to one of Joakim's more epic productions. The star gazing "Cancion (Para Ti)" has Lena Willikens set-opener written all over it whilst "The Man Who Lost The Hat" adopts a somewhat darker tone, despite the silly title. Another great 12" from the Hivern crew.

  1. Superior Conjunction (9:27)
  2. Arpadia (8:18)
  3. The Train Of Fantastic (feat Fantastic Twins) (11:58)
Review: After a relatively quiet 2016, Marvin and Guy seemed to have stepped up a level in 2017. Super Conjunction is undoubtedly one of their strongest releases to date, with the brilliant title track - a mid-tempo fusion of spacey arpeggio lines, restless TB-303 psychedelia, blissful breakdowns and hypnotic drum machine hits - impressively setting the tone. The track that follows, the melancholic Italo-disco drug-chug of "Arpadia" is quietly impressive too, but pales in comparison with epic flipside "The Train of Fantastic". Featuring contributions from occasional Optimo Music sorts the Fantastic Twins, the track seems to build in waves of 12 mesmerizing minutes, as Marvin & Guy pepper another Italo-style arpeggio groove with tumbling pianos, positive chord progressions and stylish spoken word vocals.

  1. Targa (Long Drive) (feat Sebastien Bouchet) (13:19)
  2. Countach (11:23)
Review:  Italian duo Marvin & Guy are back with a new one for Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant imprint and following up some seriously awesome EPs on Hivern Discs and their own Marvin & Guy label. "Targa" is a collaboration with Frenchman Sebastian Bouchet (Kompakt) which is one seriously epic journey track featuring the most soaring arpeggio that will help you drift far far away on the dancefloor over its full 13 minutes of glory. "Countach" is a bit more restrained but just as atmospheric with its subdued melodics and persisting organ riff which really builds suspense. Finally "Stratos" gets a bit fierce on us with this tight tech house cut with booming bass, dark pads and.. rock guitar riffs? You bet, sounds pretty great too believe us.

  2. Hint Of '92 (Underspreche remix) (6:42)
  3. Discoteque (7:32)
  4. Colours (7:12)
Review: Italian twosome Marvin & Guy (AKA Alessandro Parlatore and Marcello Giordani) channel the spirit of the early '90s on the title track from their latest rock solid EP, which marks their first appearance on Permanent Vacation for two years. "Hint of '92" is pulsating, energetic and druggy, with delay-soaked spoken word samples and "Brown Album" era Orbital electronics rising above a trance-inducing, arpeggio-driven groove. The influence of the Hartnoll Brothers (and saucer-eyed Balearic synth-pop, for that matter) can also be heard on the breezier and more loved-up "Underspreche Remix". Over on side B, "Discoteque" is a sleazy throb-job full of jacking drum fills, buzzing synthesizer sounds and razor-sharp Italo-disco bass, while post-Italo shuffler "Colours" lives up to its title.

  1. Notte (feat Allo) (7:38)
  2. Idra (feat Perel) (7:35)
  3. Stige (9AM mix) (6:19)
Review: Life & Death heralded the arrival of this single by proudly proclaiming it to be, "Marvin and Guy on rocket fuel". From that we were expecting something full throttle and intense, but instead they've gone down a much more cosmic and intergalactic route. "Notte" is particularly epic, with breathlessly beautiful, restless piano lines, colourful synthesizer lines and deep space chords rising above a pulsating, arpeggio-driven groove. Equally impressive is "Idra", where chanteuse Perel adds an atmospheric spoken word vocal (in German) over a slightly darker, spacey backing track, while "Stige (9AM Mix)" offers a more visceral and blissful dancefloor experience via no-nonsense drums and oodles of intergalactic synthesizers.
