Review: Mark De Clive Lowe is an artist who infuses every inch of his musical output with a jazz influence. The Kiwi keys man with an illustrious back catalogue has more than proved himself in the field of deep house, broken beat and more, and now he's paying tribute to one of the true greats of spiritual jazz, Pharoah Sanders. Across an expansive double LP, De Clive Lowe looks with care through the vast legacy of Sanders' work, and delivers his own unique interpretations of such important pieces as 'Astral Travelling' and 'The Creator Has A Master Plan'.

Earlier in the year he delivered the contemporary jazz/jazz-funk classic in waiting "Heritage", and here we're treated to its sequel (or, more accurately given the short gap between sets, companion album). It's another belter, with highlights including the outer-space jazz/live drum and bass fusion of "Bushido II", the string-laden dreaminess of "Ryugu-Jo", the atmospheric Jap-Jazz epic "Shitenno" and the slick downtempo jazz-funk warmth of "Mirai No Rekishi".

Review: The legendary Blue Note revisited in the most mindboggling, refreshing way: Mark De Clive Lowe struck creative gold with this alchemic homage. Laced, spaced and placed together with studio machinery and recorded in one take, the mix deconstructs the Blue Note ethos and rebuilds it in his own widescreen, floor-focused, freeform style. From sweaty Afrofunk to slinky samba via all-out analogue warehouse dynamics, this is a truly historic mix session that lends itself perfectly to vinyl.

Review: Wow. Since his broken beat days Mark De Clive Lowe has always worn his jazz colours proudly on his sleeve, but this collaboration with the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra truly brings his sonic sensibilities to life with bombastic big band bravado. From the tight balance of sublime discordance and heavenly release of the title track (a homage to Duke Ellington's "Take The A Train") to the mesmerising Latino swing and drooping refrains of the jazz standard "Caravan", this really is something else.
