Review: Deep Explorer Brings you 'Psychopark EP'. A special ep that celebrates the 10th release on vinyl, making a special tribute to two Detroit based labels: FerrisPark and Psychostasia. With a side for each label, this record opens with soul singer Marvin Belton and his 'Back to Africa', a percussive vocal tune that grows step by step among a sea of Detroit atmospheres. Review: The reach of not-for-profit label Needs continues to impress as they link up with Peggy Gou and Juju & Jordash in a collaboration with UN Women for an expertly curated 12" of interstellar sonics strapped to a 4/4 beat. Gou is on typically strident form on "Shero," presenting her keen instinct for 90s house and more fluttering, psychotropic tones distilled into dancefloor manna as intriguing as it is easy on the ears. Juju & Jordash meanwhile channel their own learned approach to live jam improvisation into a true trance-out of strafing arpeggios and spongy FX for the trip-out crew to get lost in.

Review: Given their frequent habit of charging off in different musical directions, predicting the contents of a new Juju & Jordash record is getting increasingly difficult. Down To The Roach, their latest 12" for regular home Dekmantel, is typically wide-ranging, variously exploring bouncy fusions of techno futurism and whimsical deep house (the title track and its' accompanying dub), new age-influenced dream house (the bizarrely titled "Bean Bag Motel"), and spiraling, synthesizer-heavy house/electronic disco hybrids (the stargazing goodness of "Lights at Night"). It goes without saying that all four tracks are imaginative, immaculately produced, and hugely enjoyable. Excellent work all round.

Review: Juju and Jordash are rather good at making albums. Their last full-length excursion, 2012's brilliant Techno Primitivism, was a gloriously maudlin and evocative affair, as influenced by drowsy ambient and experimental electronica as house and techno. While there are some similarly dark tracks lurking in the shadows of third album Clean Cut (see the creepy "Swamp Things"), for the most part it's a pleasingly dancefloor-centric concoction. That's not to say that they've packed it with jolly moments - the tipsy, melodious "Anywhere" and dub disco-meets-deep house wonk-out "SP Shakes" aside - but rather their leftfield blends of house and techno have a more club-friendly feel. The results are, for the most part, extremely good, with the rave-era revivalism of "Whippersnapper" (a kind of darkroom, Detroit-influenced take on T-Coy's "Carino") standing out.

Review: As Juju & Jordash, Gal Aner and Jordan Czamanski have been integral in the rise of the Dekmantel label, issuing several killer 12"s and two albums, with Techno Primitivism one of the best long players of 2012. Since that album, there's been a ton of remixes, some superb Golf Channel releases as well as the pair's esteemed improvised work with Move D as Magic Mountain High. Oh and Jordan started his new label Off Minor Recordings too. Ever the busy pair then, and a return to Dekmantel is most welcome with the double A-side record Waldorf Salad/Third Planet From Altair demonstrates Gal and Jordan have lost none of their knack for amusing track titles. Both cuts here are filled with the sort of loose programming and rich detail that we have come to expect from Juju & Jordash - with "Third Planet From Altair" our personal favourite - and bodes well for a third LP that is apparently in the works.

Review: Juju & Jordash are noted for their experimental nature - with last year's triple LP for Dekmantel perhaps the most conclusive example. Unleash The Golem: Coffin Train sees Jordan Czamanski and Gal Aner return to their conceptual Golem series for Golf Channel with the A Side challenging the aforementioned Techno Primitivism in the experimental stakes. Seventeen minutes long, "Coffin Train" sees the Amsterdam pair conjure up their most claustrophobia inducing production thus far, marrying the freeform electronics of their Magic Mountain High material with vast, droning passages and corrugated acid tainted bass lines. The accompanying "Coffin Train Getaway" is much more rhythmically focused, paring back the textural experiments in favour of plundering through a broken techno rhythm that's got Clapton squat party written all over it.

Review: It's rare these days that you have a spare 90 minutes to focus on an album, but Techno Primitivism is one of those albums that makes you want to change your lifestyle accordingly. Everything about this new album from Juju & Jordash breathes class - released on Dekmantel with three slabs of 180 gram vinyl spread across a gatefold sleeve complemented by killer design from Orpheu De Jong, and brandishing a blend of music that's fully representative of the Amsterdam based duo's styles and influences. At 15 tracks deep, the full beauty of Techno Primitivism will undoubtedly reveal itself slowly, the cheeky misnomer of the title hinting at Gal & Jordan's often revealed humour. Opening in grand style with the triple suite of "Stoplight Loosejaw", "Diatoms" and "Backwash", the duo set a hazy, atmospheric tone that remains throughout, with brief machine funk interludes such as "Slow Boat To Haifa" and "Rogue Wave" in between longer improvised explorations. Favourites on this album change with every listen, but you can't deny the potency of tracks such as "Powwow" or the Magic Mountain High referencing "Track David Would Play" or the superbly titled "Dr Strangepork". One of the albums of this year, without doubt!

Review: Surfacing earlier this year on those all too limited Golf Channel promos, the full version of Juju & Jordash's Jewsex 12" arrives replete with some amusing artwork and the even more amusing tagline "Conceived by Juju & Jordash on a balmy night 9 months." Such is the production versatility of Gal and Jordan you never quite know what to expect from the Amsterdam based duo, and this long awaited return to Golf Channel finds them channelling the spirit of countless deliciously filthy italo denizens of days gone by. It's hard not to get swept up in the relentless waves of raw and libidinous sounds that pummel through the speaker cones on the original "Jewsex." Flip over and switch down to 33rpm and the "Clubsex" version goes tougher, harder, and stronger as the rippling arpeggio bassline gets lost amidst the steamy jacking drums - maybe this is bath house music? The duo's penchant for horizon widening dub expanses finally makes an appearance on the appropriately titled "Dubsex."

Review: Dekmantel unleash Detroit legend Robert Hood on Juju and Jordash's "Deep Blue Meanies" from last year's self titled album. The virulent pulse that ran through the track marked "Deep Blue Meanies" as the most impressive moment, and Hood does the track justice with two differing but equally astounding treatments. The A Side Sci Fi Mix is akin to a full on sensory assault, flipping the track into a relentless thumping future techno groove replete with throbbing bass that absorbs brain matter and multi layered percussion that demands to be bounced off cavernous warehouse walls. On the other side Hood's "Monobox Remix" tones down the percussion to focus on crafting hypnotic patterns of scratched melodies and singular drones atop a minimalist groove. The growing acid tension that characterises the closing stages of this remix make it hard to choose a favourite. Special mention to for the rather attractive screen printed sleeve art.

Review: Amsterdam enclave Dekmantel have elected to toast the five year milestone in the best way possible with a series of highly collectable twelve inches featuring tracks from artists who have contributed in that period - be it performing at their killer parties or releasing music on the label. The series gets off to a veritable flyer with productions from Morphosis and Juju & Jordash either side of this wonderfully decorated twelve inch. The latter honorary Amsterdammers open proceedings with a Cosmic Dub update of the "African Flower" jam that featured on their 08 Aesthetic Audio split with Keith Worthy which naturally smoothes out the percussive klack of the original for a more sumptuous ride. It is matched by the jittering analogue behemoth that is Morphosis' "Pulse" with skin crawling organs lifted from the Hammer school of horror excellently riding the scattergun percussive rhythms of an increasingly rippling and dusty beatdown ride.

Review: Uzuri continue a fine run of record releasing form with this EP that culls talent from various international corners of the electronic world. Kicking off K Soul & Muteoscillator drop pounding stripped back Windy City machine funk on "Take 1" which comes replete with increasingly spasmodic 303 squiggles and desperate analogue riffs. "Resolution M" the subsequent offering from Chicago Skyway is resolutely deeper, laying some vintage Heard style ethereal synths down as the backdrop to a lolloping metallic kick drum groove. On the flip JuJu & Jordash stick two gloriously acid tinged fingers up at anyone who dismisses the duo as mere deep house fodder with the grainy 303 textures of "Killing Raul With Acid". Irish newcomer Slowburn rounds off a solid and at points surprising twelve inch with the stripped down rhythmic drum track "Meteor".

Review: ** Full Vibe Repress ** Sometimes a record comes along that perfectly captures the mood and sound of a particular corner of the music world. This double pack compilation from DC imprint Future Times is most certainly one of those releases, joining the dots on an international network of underground house artists spanning both coasts of the US and mainland Europe. New York imprint L.I.E.S. feature heavily with Steve Moore and his namesake Summers both contributing tracks - Summers also appears as Confused House - along with label overseer Ron Morelli under his L.I.E.S. moniker. The latter's "Comeback Dust" - originally out on the excellent Echovolt imprint - is given a stripped down rework from Maximillion Dunbar for the opening track. Whilst there is plenty of raw warehouse business here, Vibe 2 includes tracks that aren't afraid to deviate away from this towards carefree experimentalism, see for example the hi nrg camp bump of Alexis Le Tan's "Marathon Man" and the almost horizontal sprawl of "Volatile Memory" from Steve Moore. Highly recommended.

Review: The Air Texture series of ambient compilations is amongst the best around. This fifth edition features a disc's worth of selections from San Francisco-based Brit Spacetime Continuum (AKA long-serving producer Jonah Sharp) and Amsterdam-based eccentrics Juju & Jordash. Sharp's selection is reflective of his love of deep and spacey fare, some of it influenced by the Motor City (check the cuts by Fred P and Patrice Scott), but also includes vintage material from I:Cube, Sunshine Jones and old pal Move D. Juju & Jordash serve up a slightly more wide-ranging and occasionally grandiose selection, drawing together sublime contributions from the likes of Gigi Masin, Max D, Planet Love and Magic Mountain High, their acclaimed collaboration with Move D.
