Boogie Chillen (3:11)
Boogie Chillen #2 (2:48)
Review: It's hard to comprehend how significant it was when John Lee Hooker first recorded 'Boogie Chillen' in Detroit way, way back in 1948. Once the track was licensed to Modern Records, it went on to sell close to a million copies in the space of a year, at a time when recorded music was still finding its feet, and from that moment on Hooker's legendary status was confirmed until his death in 2001. Now Ace are commemorating 75 years since that landmark song was recorded, capturing two different takes of a track recorded by one man singing his honest truth and creating seismic shifts in popular culture, before such a thing even existed.

It Serves You Right To Suffer (5:08)
Review: Blues legend John Lee Hooker released It Serves You Right To Suffer 1966, back when the blues and jazz impresario had a short-lived folk music division, with the tagline "the new wave of folk is on Impulse!". Thus the only album Hooker made for the label, we hear Hooker perform in exquisite, stereo-surrounded detail here, his distinctive deep drawl poking through a wide-mixed production palette and singing thematically in a vindictive spirit, urging the subject of the album to get up and move on from the past. With Panama Francis on drums, Milt Hinton on bass and Barry Galbraith on second guitar, the album is some of the best John Lee Hooker material with a band that you're likely to come across.

Tell Me You Love Me (5:44)
Review: American blues legend John Lee Hooker released Born In Mississippi Raised Up In Tennessee yack in 1973. It's a studio album that has been praised by modern comic Stewart lee who called the nine minute epic 'How Many More Years You Gonna Dog Me 'Round?' "superb." The rest of the tracks are heavy on the horns from George Bohanon and Oscar Brashear and have plenty of backing vocal action with the likes of Robert Hooker also playing plenty of big organ parts. These are all long jams that really take you on a trip - with plenty of standouts.

Review: Renowned blues singer and guitarist John Lee Hooker performed at Hunter College in New York City in 1976, and it has since gone down in history as among his greatest performances, with a distinctive solo slide guitar serving as the standout piece. Now collected in its entirety across a double LP set, the album contains 11 live originals; raw and intimate blues takes on the likes of 'Crawlin' King Snake', 'Boogie Chillen' and 'One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer', along with brand new artwork and liner notes by Kent Cooper. This is the first time both sets have been packaged together on vinyl for a global release.
