Pete Herbert & Dicky Trisco - "Fique Louca" (5:45)
Processman - "Baba Oni" (7:09)
JKriv - "Coisa Louca" (6:32)
Joutro Mundo - "Ballet Do Chocolate" (5:09)
Review: Introducing a special edition 12' maxi EP from Barefoot Beats. This extraordinary release offers four dynamic tracks, each representing the heart and soul of Brazil's vibrant music scene. On the first side, you've got Pete Herbert & Dicky Trisco with 'Fique Louca' with its playful vocal whoops and funky breaks that are guaranteed to heat up any dancefloor. Next up is Salvador's Processman who delivers a rhythm-infused Bahian delight that will work at the open air or club alike, with its mesmersing Arp line and captivating rhythmic chant. Over on the flip, there's the upbeat and lively 'Drive You Crazy' by NYC-based JKriv of Razor N Tape, and finally Joutro Mundo from Rio closes out the EP with a sweet melodic anthem that will have you singing and dancing along.

Barefoot Beats 11 (B-STOCK)
Cat: BB 11 (B-STOCK). Rel: 15 Dec 20

Disco/Nu-Disco
JKriv & Dicky Trisco - "Mae Do Mar"
Bernardo Pinheiro - "Xango"
Review: ***B-STOCK: Record has very light surface marks/smudges, but otherwise in perfect working condition***

The 11th Barefoot beats is another hugely effective disco 12" with two well purposed cuts. JKriv & Dicky Trisco link up first for 'Mae Do Mar,' a tune that has you dreaming of warmer climes, sandy beaches and sunny skies. It's an airy cut with a tropical percussive line, hints of Latin flair and breezy vocals. Flip it over and the temperature goes up a notch - Bernardo Pinheiro's 'Xango' is a superbly soulful and heartwarming groover. The chords are draped elegantly over the busy funky bass and the vocals are chants that draw your attention and get you in a trance.

Barefoot Beats 05
Cat: BB 05. Rel: 29 Jun 17

Disco/Nu-Disco
JKriv - "Barefoot Boogie" (6:37)
Joutro Mundo - "Caue" (7:10)
Review: Summer's here, so that means another 10" slab of Brazilian edit action from the consistent Barefoot Beats label. Razor 'n' Tape/Deep & Disco man JKriv handles the A-side, serving up a crunchy, Clavinet and funk guitar-laden chunk of sweat-soaked disco-funk with that distinctively Brazilian sweetness ("Barefoot Boogie"). While a little loopy, the Brooklyn-based producer has craftily retained the sax-heavy swing of his original source material. On the flip Midnight Riot regular Joutro Mundo steals the show with "Caue", a superb edit of a vaguely familiar, string-laden chunk of AOR disco brilliance that subtly builds throughout.

Joutro Mundo - "Revele" (6:12)
JKRIV - "Povo De Zambi" (6:01)
Review: Barefoot Beats is a series of EPs released on Mareh Music, a record label based in Sao Paulo whose people are also the curators of the Mareh music festival in Boipeba - a remote island in Bahia. For their label's ninth edition, Rio de Janeiro's Joutro Mundo (Midnight Riot/Outra) delivers an edit of a lovely neon-lit boogie down number on "Revele", while on the flip the man from New York City Jkriv (Razor-N-Tape) gets a deep, soulful and life-affirming number into the mix with "Povo De Zambi".
