An extensive compilation like this one is just the ticket then, gathering together the band's stellar run of singles in one handy package and making a case for the band's deserved legacy as all-time greats of British indie. The swirling, shoe gaze-sized reverb and driving rhythm of their organ-charged production is cut through by the clear focus of the songwriting - something which was apparent even back in the late 80s on their first EPs.
