Techno
  1. Donato Dozzy & Peter Van Hoesen - "Storta" (5:58)
  2. Deniro - "Serval" (7:57)
  3. Matrixxman - "Sexual Frustration" (6:06)
  4. Talismann - "Aciano" (7:29)
Review: The eighth instalment in Dutch powerhouse Dekmantel's 10 year anniversary series comes courtesy of the techno scene's current heavy hitters. On the A side we have inimitable pairing of some hypnotic techno dons: Rome's Donato Dozzy and Brussels' Peter Van Hoesen - who turn in an epic tribal trance cut in the form of "Storta". The Trip affiliated Dutchman Deniro finishes up the A side with his deep and functional DJ tool "Serval" powered by thunderous toms and distant blips and bleeps. On the flip, American acid retrovert Matrixxman delivers more sturdy 303 wobble business for dank warehouses on "Sexual Frustration" and grunting and squealing away in similar fashion is Talismann's dirty epic "Aciano". With an EP released every month, the series has been embracing all the musical varieties they've come to represent. Featuring label favourites, along with a whole bunch of new faces, iconic artists and select debutantes alike - it's a collection of timeless music that embraces everything they've done to date, while setting a precedent for things to come.

  1. Slow Train (part 1) (17:42)
  2. Slow Train (part 2) (19:22)
Review: It would be fair to say that Donato Dozzy's contribution to the "One Instrument Sessions" series is something of a psychedelic, brain-melting affair. Running to 38 minutes in two side-long parts, "Slow Train" is the result of a one-night encounter the Italian had with an EMS Synthi AKS - a rare, valuable, portable modular synthesizer that would now set you back well over L15,000. Musically the piece is wonderfully atmospheric, fluid and trippy, moving between slowly shifting electronic movements, starburst sounds and becalmed ambient chords. It was recorded as live in one go, with all the sounds you hear the result of real-time manipulation of the Synthi's unique control system, and you really can tell. It's definitely one for vintage synthesizer lovers everywhere to absorb and enjoy.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Cassandra (Skudge remix) (6:20)
  2. Cassandra (Fred P remix) (7:48)
  3. Cassandra (Jus-Ed remix) (6:48)
Review: Italian hypnotic techno don Donato Dozzy originally released "Cassandra" back in early 2015 on Claque Musique and was well received for its typically deep and transcendental qualities. It now receives some killer remix treatment. First up are Swedish hardware mavericks Skudge, whose rendition stays true to the original but injecting some dusty analogue grit into the aesthetic. Next who better to accentuate the track's deep qualities than the man Fred P, whose version is quite different but tremendous in its own right. Finally it stays in New Jersey style going but over to Ed; Jus Ed that is! His remix is typically dusty and emotive as you'd expect; really feeling this one.

  8. Exit The Acropolis (6:02)
Review: Donato Dozzy's previous album, Sintetizzatrice, made beautiful, avant-garde music out of chopped-up and manipulated vocals. For The Loud Silence, he's attempted to do similar with the "marranzano", better known as the humble mouth harp or Jew's Harp. The instrument's distinctive twang can be heard throughout the album, providing inspiration for trippy, droning ambience ("Personal Rock"), glitchy electronica ("The Net"), abstract techno ("Downhill To The Sea", whose industrial influences are obvious), and triumphant, post-Orbital soundtrack electronica (closer "Exit The Acropolis", which is nothing less than superb). Of course, there are musty textures and off-kilter electronic textures throughout, too, but it's the alien-sounding mouth harp the draws Dozzy's disparate strands together.

Techno
  1. Donato Dozzy - "Aquatica" (5:46)
  2. Eric Cloutier - "Ekpyrosis" (6:24)
Review: Eric Cloutier has decided to launch a new offshoot to his consistently impressive Palinoia label. The basic idea seems to be limited edition EPs featuring tried-and-tested club cuts from like-minded machine abusers. To begin this sub-label debut in style, he offers up a killer cut from pal Donato Dozzy that's as hypnotic and mind-altering as you'd expect. Built around a rock solid kick-drum pattern, hissing cymbals and a deep bassline, "Aquatica" is sparse, unearthly and intoxicating, with trippy noises, metallic electronics and watery sounds bubbling across the sound space. Cloutier takes over on side B with "Ekpyrosis", a thrusting, muscular mixture of locked-in grooves, faintly foreboding psychedelic acid motifs and the kind of swelling chords that make your synapses snap.

  3. Lucy & Klock - "War Lullaby" (Lucy remix) (6:31)
  4. Xhin - "Link" (Lucy remix) (7:01)
Review: With the 'Lucy Reworks' EP, label head Lucy, nom de techno of Luca Mortellaro, revisits four pivotal tracks from his label's peerless catalogue. In their original form, these tracks from Donato Dozzy, Caterina Barbieri, Lucy & Klock and Xhin each represent significant and deeply personal moments for Mortellaro in Stroboscopic Artefacts' history. And like the recent 'Ten Years Of Artefacts' album and the currently ongoing tour, this EP is a chance for Mortellaro to look back fondly at the label's past while closely considering its present and its future.
