Review: A neat complement to their ever-steady white label production - they're often found plugging up the perennially insatiable hole that is the popular demand for new jungle - Okbron Records flaunt their expressive side here, welcoming producer Bungle for a terse eight-track album revolving around drum & bass' latter-day sonic post-structures. The new album Long Distance indulges the esser-cited leitmotifs of the drum & bass arch-genre, such as halftime; Bungle flaunts the ability to tease out familiar emotions in the listener, without, however, succumbing to its same formalistic constraints (no, the snare does not always have to be on the second and fourth beats). Clean, plummy, hypnotic and verging on bursting, the likes of 'Unfold', 'Long Distance' and 'Caught Leaving' impress with their verging between light-footedness and controlled bassweight, as if to suggest this producer is constantly striving towards a perfection of the sound.

Review: For whatever reason. Part 3 of this EP series from Bungle on Moscow's Okbron Records dropped before this one, Part 2. Either way the drum & bass veteran has won us over again with two of his signature laidback rollers. They come with nice synth sequences and silky smooth drum breaks that manage to be powerful but comforting, certainly on 'Memory Lane' which also has the hint of nostalgia you would expect. 'Sun Step' is more stripped back, with smeared chords and more frosty textures up top and low, booming bass down low. Both are high-quality cuts.

'Slow Fall' and 'Eliminate' are chillout moods for nightwalks, best listened to when walking down the street at dusk or at 3AM, with earphones in. Off-kilter rhythms and strange liminal zones are evoked on this new white label 12", like cityscapes buckling under the stress of internal conflict.

Review: The 117 label hits a fifth release in style with this new one from Bungle. The Brazilian artist is a drum & bass mainstay who has already established himself on plenty of respected labels. This label debut is another step up with a rich array of sounds all heading into the future on a wave of very real emotions. 'Faces' immediately stirs deep feelings with its mournful chords and slick beats, 'Humanize' release some angst on more twisted and textured sounds. 'Outside' is a dark tune with a dystopian energy and 'Trigger' then soundtracks the peak time with its big breaks and tense synth work.

Review: With huge tracks hitting across the board on the likes of 31, Critical and now Chris Inperspective's exciting new imprint Eloisa, Bungle's never sat so comfortably in his own groove before. A longtime Sao Paulo drum & bass treasure, he seldom fails to deliver and these three cuts are fine examples of his understated craft. 'Runway' is the heaviest cut of the bunch with echoes of 'Cocooned' in the high voltage bassline while 'Unleashed' rolls with subtle theatre thanks to the jazzy swinging drums and 'Articulate' closes on a strange rhythm. Blocky, woozy and nodding very heavily at techno. It's hard not to make comparisons to Krust right here. And no compliment comes higher.

Review: Andre Sobota is Bungle, the Brazilian producer tearing up the contemporary drum & bass landscape with his hard hitting rhythms. He only tends to put out one EP a year, but that changes this autumn with three missives all landing in the space of two months. This is the first and features four cuts on two slabs of wax. "Mutant" starts out as an icy liquid roller before being ripped apart by rasping synths, "Dictate" is a glistening stomper with raga vocal stabs and melodic shimmers while "Enigma" is a dark, twisting and turning track that takes you down a rabbit hole. "Step Two" finishes things off in rump-wiggling jump up fashion and closes out a devastating release.

Review: Sao Paulo's finest export Bungle has a long history of hitting the decks hard and "Alone" is his latest tribute to the old school. Mixing vintage sounds with fresh drums and bass, title track "Alone" is a perfect set starter to get things moving in the dance. "Looking Back" is the perfect tune if industrial, heavyweight bangers that morph into beautiful, flowing rollers are your bag. "Arcadia" channels old school Dillinja down to the dark slamming bass and percussion that keeps pushing back against swirling synths. Final track "Fast Forward" offers a more minimal sound, stepping up with tribal drums before building into a whirlwind roller, tapping into an addictive old school sound. It's pretty much perfection and you need it.

Review: He's back! It's been a while since Bungle last graced our turntables; his 2011 album Memories to be precise. But he's returned. And he's done so with a double-sided disc of pure D&Beauty. "Aura" is an emotion soaked stepper laced with all the grace of an early 90s ambient record but beefed up with Autonomic standards. Already being pimped as an 'impossible to top' tune of the year by some of the biggest names in the game, it's unarguably essential. "Astral Travel" is equally stunning. Rolling with a heavier rhythm but dosed with the same amount of star gazing whimsy, it's another faultless moment from the Brazilian DJ. Welcome back Bungle.

Review: Total Science's CIA Recordings imprint has been a bastion of both quality and quantity over the years. Bungle whips up a powerful brew of funky guitar licks, haunting atmospherics and pounding bass overlaid with Laura Pacheco's strong vocal hooks. "Resized" will make you move your body in the club while the vocal will stick in your head for days afterwards. Too good to be called a b-side, "13th Floor" combines trademark sharp beats with a stunning and cinematic backdrop, sweeping LFOs and vocal samples blow through the mix like leaves in the wind.

Review: The oddly named, yet strangely attractive Jerona Fruits label pick up a couple of rollers from Brazilian man of the moment Bungle, and what a soothing pair they are too. "No Routine" runs along with an old school Jungle style break - Brazilian vocal sweeps and guitar plucks are smoothed out with a touch of Saxaphonic love. Taking it up a notch, "Love & War" is a dirtier affair, but it retains that soulful edge in its execution. Epic washes of aural colour blend with energetic breaks and a driving bassline to set it apart from the crowd.

First up Villem takes Bungle's super-steppy "You & Me", jettisons any unnecessary beef and sprinkles it with essential star-gazing elements such as lilting pads and soaring synth progressions. Review: Techmosphere 03 is a monstrous 25 track album on Scientific Records that will be available digitally soon, but before that comes a sampler packed with six gems from it, three of which are originals, and the other three are remixes. Silence Groove's remix of "Northern Light" and his original "Patterns" are two silky and liquid rollers that go super deep, while Electrosoul's take on Naibu's "Clouds" is much more ragged and rhythmic thanks to its crisp hits and rasping bass. There's more raw energy on the crashing loops of DJ Trax's "Just Breath" but a heavenly vocal will also suspend you in a celestial atmosphere in between drum breaks.
