Review: Italian imprint Neroli grace us with the second in a series of 12 inches prepped to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Volcov's label is known for excelling in many styles and that's aptly demonstrated here. Jus Ed's better half Jenifa Mayanja kicks off with future boogie of "Sunset" which sees her ethereal voice glide over an increasingly off kilter jazz bump. Chicago veteran Anthony Nicholson follows with relentlessly uplifting vocal assisted groove of "Communication". The real gold however is nestled on the B Side, with "So" from Mancunian Be (Prime Numbers/Wolf Music) a heaving mass of Detroit influenced brilliance which locks into a Rhodes heavy and delightfully soul flecked groove midway through. Nutmeg aka UK legend Dego rounds things off on a high with the rusted bruk step danger of "Tangent".

Review: Anthony Nicholson remixed vocal house from extraordinary 5 octave singer that immediately reminds one of Minnie Ripperton or Deniece Williams. She has worked with Patti Labelle, Ashford & Simpson, Jeffrey Osborne and on and on. Funky almost broken beat tempo with retro soul elements throughout, jazz flute, soaring synths and Gloria's multi octave vocalizing. B-side features DJ friendly almost acappella and bonus beats.

Review: American Anthony Nicholson is one of the underground's most noxiously outspoken characters, especially during his days with the Dope Jams record store where he would right diss notes on 12"s and LPs he didn't like. Thankfully his own work is up to scratch and now the veteran becomes part of the Yoruba family. 'Nucleus Scene1' is his contribution - a signature deep house cut laced with real soul, jazzy chords and life-affirming melodies in a vibrant arrangement. The Yoruba Soul Mix gets even more soulful and mind-expanding with its funky guitar riffs and then Cee ElAssaad brings the Afro house vibes with some extra piano. Great stuff.

Review: It's a great one for fans of the more spiritual and profound strains of deep house this week, with underrated Chicago veteran Anthony Nicholson presenting his new BlakMuzic EP. He was compelled to release something that answers the need of powerful and thoughtful music that is relevant to the current times we are living through. This EP is a powerful statement of intention and speaks to those values. The Prescription Records staple and head of Clairaudience is in fine form as always, firstly on the hi-tech title track and its hypnotic, futurist groove aesthetic. Over on the flip, Nicholson gets ultra deep on the emotive late night journey of 'Transgressions'.

Review: Jitwam's The Jazz Diaries imprint has had a standout 12 months and now it is to the ever outspoken Chicago based producer Anthony Nicholson to keep up the good work. Of course, he does so with ease and is someone who always backs up his talk with his expressive productions, which date back to the early nineties sunder many different names. This one is all about mind expanding and life affirming synth work that brings cosmic rays and sun worship to warm spiritual deep house grooves. The high energy feels, tape-saturated drums and swirling keys and pianos here are all exceptional.

Review: Former Ron Trent protege Anthony Nicholson can usually be relied on to bring the goods, so naturally we're expecting big things from this fourth EP of 2017. While rooted in his usually rich and atmospheric deep house style, A-side "Darkwave Disco" draws more influence from the arpeggio-driven pulse of Italo-disco and the Fairlight-heavy sheen of classic 1980s synth-pop. Throw in some classic disco Clavinet lines and a wealth of additional drum machine hand percussion (think shakers, cowbells etc) and you've got a warm and woozy delight. Flipside "Chill Out Girls", a heavily electronic take on his usual deep house style rich in ear-pleasing chord sequences and "West End Girls" style synths, is also quietly impressive.

Review: Since the early 1990s, Ron Trent has kept a watchful eye over the career of Anthony Nicholson. It was the Prescription co-founder who first coaxed Nicholson into the studio, and the two have been semi-regular collaborators ever since. Sadly, Trent doesn't make an appearance on Gravity, but then Nicholson has long since ditched the training wheels. As this fifth full length proves, he's capable of creating some of the most sublime deep house around. From start to finish, the album ripples with soul and rich musicality, resulting in a series of club-focused cuts brimming with twinkling pianos, live percussion, jazzy guitars and warm bass. As you'd expect, there's plenty of variety on show, with Nicholson including tracks that doff a cap to African music, modern soul, jazz-funk and boogie.

Review: Since meeting, and subsequently working with, Ron Trent in the early 1990s, Anthony Nicholson has produced some seriously sublime deep house. These days, his releases are less frequent than many would wish, but retain the kind of high quality threshold associated with the very best house producers. Gravity is his fifth full-length, and delivers a swathe of gorgeously rich and musically expansive tracks shot through with serious amounts of soul. While he rarely strays from the dancefloor, tracks are layered with delicious musical flourishes - twinkling piano playing, live percussion, guitars and bass, for starters - while you'll a range of complimentary influences (African rhythms, modern soul, jazz-funk, boogie, and so on). In other words, it's a proper, grown-up house album.

On "Suckapunch", the man behind such seminal music as USG and African Blues delivers properly soulful and emotive deep house the way it was intended. On the flip, "Turn Me On" is more uplifting, integrating some syncopated conga drums and powerful strings with hypnotic female vocals loops all working in perfect harmony.

Review: Although most house and techno heads know him under a variety of different pseudonyms, Anthony Nicholson has been releasing smoking tunes since the 1990's for labels such as the mighty Prescription, on which he used to call himself African Blues. He's back in 2015 under his birth name, and he's landed on the lovely DeepartSounds, a home to artists such as Dubbyman, Giorgio Luceri, and the one like Ron Trent! On the A-side, "Optimum" fills your soul with a soothing array of gentle house swings, powered by sublime vocals and mid piano keys; the flipside is "Destination", and it's a funkier sort of tune, one that is a little less deep and little more disco. Beautiful house music for those looking for meditative gear.

Review: Smooth deep house veteran Anthony Nicholson makes a return to his regular stomping ground Clairaudience with another soul-stirring concoction of plush musicality and impeccable groove for those who like their jams silky. The "Miquifaye Vox Re-Rub" of "You Are The Master" is a classically styled house jam with detailed percussive lines and freewheeling instrumentation that intertwine with Tanya Reed's honey-coated vocals with grace and poise. On the flipside a leaner alternative mix offers up a choice for those who want the satisfying melodies without the lyrics, but the chances are with a release this sumptuous, if you like one side then you'll be equally swayed by the other.

Review: After a long while here's a new release from Clairaudience with music provided by label head Anthony Nicholson (aka Miquifaya). Taking a bit of a departure from Anthony's standard deep tribal sounds he seems to go back in time to 90s Chicago conjuring sonic images of classic labels Prescription and Balance. The A side keeps things moving with a grunty scat and grind of the organ while the flip stays straight & chuggy with spacey synths and Detroit-esque strings. A perfect move forward for that deep soulful tech sound dominating of late.

Review: Two of Chicago's most underappreciated producers pop up on this splendid record. The cowbell carnage of A-Side "Time Trekker" is offset by the string-laden, piano heavy house thump of "Pretty Noise Suite No. 1" - a guaranteed floor filler if ever we've heard one. Pressed up DIY style on Nicholson's Circular Motion Recordings, this is one for the purists.

Review: First released digitally last year, 'We Work Best' sees sometime Ron Trent protege Anthony Nicholson join forces with soul singer Jadeine Veda for some suitably grown-up, musically expansive deep house thrills. The two club-focused remixes come from Nicholson under his Miquifaye pseudonym - vocal and instrumental takes full of layered, Latin-influenced percussion, locked-in deep house beats, glassy-eyed chords, immersive pads and Spanish guitar flourishes. Of those two mixes, it's the A-side version that really impresses, thanks in no small part to Veda's fragile, emotive and intimate lead vocals. The EP's other mix, the 'Veda Vocal Reprise', is a largely beat-free affair marked out by chopped and layered vocal snippets, sparkling ambient chords and warming bass.
