Review: Alternative, goth and pop rock band HIM are one of the most creative and strongest bands to come out of Finland. Tears On Tape was their eighth and final album from the band whose career covered nearly 25 years. Originally released in 2013, this is the first reissue and fans of the band are celebrating that this will also be its' very first time on vinyl. Green vinyl that matches the artwork as well is a nice touch. Experience some of the last key tracks from this ground breaking band like 'All Lips Go Blue', 'Into the Night' and the title song 'Tears On Tape. Review: Since the release of the singles 'I'm Alive' and 'Good Samaritan' in 2019, fans have been foaming at the mouth for confirmation of a new full-length from acclaimed Swedish garage-punk superstars The Hives. Well, since the start of this year, eccentric frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist has been spotted numerous times on the Hollywood Boulevard holding up "protest" signs with slogans such as "The Hives Must Album Now!" and "Honk If You Want a New The Hives Album". This guerilla marketing has all been for a truly righteous cause as the group have finally put listener anxiety at ease with confirmation of The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons; their sixth album and first since 2012's Lex Hives, due out in August of this year. The unhinged, bangeriffic lead cut 'Bogus Operandi' also marks their first piece of new material since those previously mentioned singles from four years ago. Dancing shoes? Check? Uniformed suit? Check. First Hives record in a decade? Inbound.

Review: A cast of 47 musicians including a gospel choir and 16-piece orchestra came together to work on this wildly ambitious second album from HMLTD. It took over two years to put together and is not so much a concept album as a fully realised musical universe that crosses all genre and medium boundaries. It is set in a version of Medieval England steeped in sci-fi fantasy and is part a political polemic and part a moving and psychological journey. Frontman Henry Spychalski draws on his own struggles to tell a modern tale about the impotence of people feel stuck inside system of power.

Review: It's album number nine from The Hold Steady, who, as it happens, marked 20 years as a band with this release (or at least the anniversary roughly coincided with the LP landing in stores). During that time, these masters of rough and tumble, near-barroom rock for and by the people, have climbed the ladder of musical fame, enjoyed time in a well-deserved limelight, and then returned to the underground from whence they came.
Understanding that journey is important. Achieving heights of mainstream success a decade or so ago, it's not that the half-spoken word vocal delivery of frontman Craig Finn has waned in impact or emotional resonance. Nor has the timeless, brass and piano hued rock & roll instrumentation gone stale. Instead, their relentless consistency means we almost take the quality of every song and record for granted, leaving die hard fans to carry the torch. Perhaps now is the time to correct that.
