Limit Of Paradise (5:16)
Snake Charmer (6:27)
Gone Too Soon (5:55)
Zero Fifteen (6:20)
Review: Rave legends 2 Bad Mice return with their first release since 2004 and suddenly the world doesn't feel like quite such a bleak place. Naturally we're treated to the full spectrum from running man, heads-down rolling breaks ("Snake Charmer") to the absolute, unabashed piano heaven and hands-in-the-air euphoria of the title track. With the classic loose drum rolls and dubby subs of "Zero Fifteen" and the stretched out drum trippery of "Limit Of Paradise" completing the set, it's a welcome (and highly timely) return for one of rave music's most influential collectives.

Artwork (Tha Playah remix)
Hardcore Makes The World Move (Promo remix)
Sinapse (Ophidian remix - original by Meccano Twins)
Review: Traxtorm brings you 'AOF (remixes)', the second release taken from the Art of Fighters album, featuring 3 tracks which have marked AOF's career, remixed by 3 of the top notch producers of the moment.
'Artwork', a hit track in 2001 and slammin again in 2008 thanks to the mighty remix of Tha Playah: mindblowing break and fresh sounds for a track already hammered by all the tops. On the flip 'Hardcore
Makes The World Move' is remixed by Promo. Sonic experiments and avant garde feelings on the re-visitation of the track from 2000, which is considered by many as the best track ever produced by AOF.
Ophidian remixed 'Sinapse', the first Meccano Twins' release. Again a great work, Ophidian maintained the vibe and the strength of the original adding a touch of power and rawness typical of his tracks.
Needless to say: as every Art of Fighters records, this one in a must have too.

The Dark Stranger (Johnny Jungle remix) (6:08)
Review: Released in 1993 at the height of jungle's emergence as a fully-fledged dancefloor movement, Origin Unknown's remix of Boogie Times Tribe's "The Dark Stranger" remains a must-have for anyone interested in the development of home-grown British dance music. If you're unaware of its rumbling bass, spooky vocal samples, punchy breaks and foreboding builds, you should check it post-hast; it's undeniably one of the best records of the early jungle period. On this timely reissue, it's backed by two remixes by Johnny Jungle: a spacey, loose and atmospheric rework of "Real Hardcore", and a solid version of "The Dark Stranger" which doesn't quite hit the heights of Origin Unknown's brilliant A-side revision.

Predators
Review: Bristol-based badman Borai has been quietly issuing some of the city's most immense club wreckers for many years now, sometimes in partnership with October, and sometimes flying solo (as on the crucial Anybody From London for Hotline Recordings). Here he's inaugurating Higher Level with some absolute dance slayers, kicking off with the mammoth pitched-down drum funk and gut-wrenching bass of "Razor" before switching stance for the dreamier but no less rowdy "Predators." Both cuts are a masterclass in classic breakbeat science, delivering the foundational UK sound with panache that sets these weapons far apart from the rest of the pack.

Tek Riser (5:55)
Tek Riser (Shadowchild remix) (4:15)
Review: N4 is back with another blinding EP, this time from Pete Cannon who has already had some of these tunes played by the likes of Bicep. 'In My Soul' is full-throttle drum & bass with raved-up sirens and crashing breaks to get the floor in a spin. The Sumgii 160 remix brings elements of footwork rhythms, loopy and cut-up sequences that explode and implode endlessly. 'Tek Riser' is a bubbling and gurgling world of slamming drums and rubbery bass for big room action and last of all is a Shadowchild remix that brings some light with celestial synths and a more slow and pronounced rhythm.

Mani Festo - "M25 Orbital" (5:41)
LMajor - "12000 Watts" (5:55)
Denham Audio - "The Ryder" (4:46)
Review: There's nothing subtle about Club Glow's thrillingly full-throttle brand of rave revivalism, but there's no denying that it's tons of fun and liable to create pandemonium on peak-time dancefloors. The crew's latest EP is another exercise in breathless brilliance that expertly mashes and mangles elements of umpteen rave-igniting styles into fresh, strobe-lit shapes. Borai's 'Kinda Dangerous', a wobble bass-propelled slab of hardcore insanity full of breakbeat blasts and mind-mangling vocal samples, while Mani Festo's 'M25 Orbital' adds glassy-eyed female vocal snippets and angular electronic riffs to a bustling jungle rhythm and happy hardcore kick-drums. L Major's 12000 Watts sits somewhere between giddy breakbeat hardcore and bouncy techno, while Denham Audio's 'The Ryder' is a low-slung, spaced-out, sub-heavy delight.

Review: Amen Brother asked Darren Woolard aka DAWL, said to be a regular customer of Vinyl Fanatiks from the hardcore generation, to use his knowledge of the scene to create 'a proper little rave induced banger' and here are the results. Four ravey breakbeat numbers await you on the Pump Up The Noise EP featuring the euphoric, Mentasm-laden energy of 'Moonstruck' which kicks things off, followed by the title track which is packed full of Todd Terry style motifs mixed in with MC chants and rewinds. Over on the flip, it's all about the proto jungle vibe of the menacing 'Freak Of Nature'.

Review: Following the explosive launch with Sinistarr and Hyroglifics, the second release on Sherelle and Naina's Hooversound comes courtesy of Deft. Previously spotted murking up the dance on Ivy Lab's 2020 LDN, here he lays down a four track cornucopia of ghetto gully. "Burna" is pure acid funk, "New Yorks Finest" gets the VIP treatment and "Koover In 92" is a savage breakbeat necksnapper. "Eskilusive" brings a little Eski boy finesse to the late night blend. Hoover this up super quick.

Review: Rupture takes us to Uranus with this new various artist and special blue marled 12" featuring the don Tim Reaper as well as Double O, Dwarde and Mani Festo. It's an Escher remix of 'Straight 98' that kicks off and traps you in unresolved, tense and atmospheric drum loops with a subtle sense of funk. Reaper and Dwarde then combine for the dark and all-out breakbeat assault that is 'Mendoza'. Last of all is Mani Festo's 'Caving In', another heavy one with fizzing electronics, crunchy percussive textures and prying bass that is not in a hurry to go anywhere and instead keeps you trapped in the moment.

Han Do Jin - "B-Boy On The Loose"
Review: Jerome Hill's returns to his funkiest guise Itsu Uno for the first time in several years with this epic slice of sample madness. "The Riff" couldn't possibly be any funkier as we boom bap with vigour to a cut and paste narrative of heady homages. Han Do Jin jumps up on the B... We're unsure on HDJ's identity right now but the fusion of flavours he's cooked surpasses any traces of mystery; when early hardcore, acid house and Cuban horns are smelted as well as this, the name is superfluous. Get down.

Review: Following up some big recent tunes on Noire & Blanche and Scruniversal Tunes, Juravlove is back with more party starting and sample-heavy jams. These are DJ and dancer-friendly tunes suited to a range of settings. First up classic vocal samples define the fresh beats of 'Eleonora' then 'Crystal Cave' is all silky disco loops and 'Stoner Doner' slips into a sunset vibe for beach parties and open-air dancing. We Are IE (Borai Brizzle Bassline mix) (4:25)
Review: Whether or not Lennie D'Ice's 'We Are I.E' was the tune that inspired the birth of jungle has long been a matter of debate. Regardless, it was certainly highly influential - a booming, sub-heavy breakbeat hardcore anthem that undoubtedly shifted the musical dial on its initial release in 1991. Here the freshly remastered original - sounding weightier and sharper than ever - is joined by a trio of 21st century interpretations. Solo and Blade kick things off with a crisply chopped and pleasingly rolling re-edit before Horsepower Productions brilliantly re-imagine it as a punchy and powerful breakstep smasher. Arguably best of all though is the take from Bristol's Borai, who brilliantly joins the dots between bassline, 4/4 UKG and saucer-eyed turn-of-the-90s house. Let me hear you scream!

Review: Jack Michael has contributed plenty to garage's rich recent years on labels like One, Body Movement and Sub: Conscious. He now returns to Orbital London for four more tasty bangers. 'Mr Nice' has a low end wobble and watery synths that make for a nice sub-aquatic sound. 'South East Vice' is more skeletal and rude, with a razor sharp hi hat but silky chords bringing the vibes. There is a sci-fi menace to 'Rampage' that will make for a more edgy dance floor experience while 'The Grotty Choir' rounds out with pulsing minimal drums and kinetic kicks that are primed and ready to make you move.

It blends a wide range of rhythms and styles into explosive cuts designed for maximum impact. 'Rave Land' is exactly that with its saw tooth synths and kinetic drum tumbles. 'Lazers' is an all out piano banger and last of all is the 4am pumper with its subtly euphoric chords, 'Dope Rhythm.'

Review: If we're going to talk about seminal jungle records they don't come much more important than this one, right? Origin Unknown, aka Andy C and Ant Miles, defined a new darkside direction for breakbeat hardcore and jungle when they committed 'Valley Of The Shadows' to wax. The iconic samples, the looming sub bass, the tight as you like break edits - it's just the perfect track. Most people forget it was originally paired up with another tune though, and 'The Touch' deserves some praise too. It feels more in line with the general wave of hardcore that was prevalent when the record dropped in 1993, not least thanks to the gnarly synth lines and vocal slices, but it's still a totem of the genre at its best. Remastered, repressed and ready to destroy the rave all over again.

This time we're flexing two different tempos as the pioneer hits us first with jungle drum funk before following it up with a 130BPM breakbeat slap. 'Street Beat' hits us first with crisp breaks that switch and swipe with Dev's signature rudeness while ragga chats weave and bob over the groove and a bassline grumbles beneath. 'Drum Throne' on the B takes us into Paradox's slower tempo realms but once again the beats reign supreme and the drop in speed gives us more space to explore the groove. All hail the king.

That's why this monster fifth release on Raver-R is going to be so well received rather than laughed at, as it most certainly would have been in previous years. Review: Combining a thrilling event with three superstar heavyweights can lead to fantastic things. B2S Events presented their brand new concept 'Thrillogy' on the 27th of October 2007 at Brabanthallen Den Bosch, giving three world renown DJs the opportunity to host their very own area
along with guest DJs and label mates. This honor was given to the reigning king of hardcore, Neophyte; the almighty hardstyle guru, The Prophet;
and the grandmaster of jump/French tek, Ruthless. When you add their impressive production skills and their many years of studio experience to the package, you get this Thrillogy 2007 Anthem.
The Allstars mix on the a-side is kind of a tricky one starting off jumpstyle, raging into hardstyle and tailing with hardcore, all combined in one single track.
The two b-side tracks contain additional mixes by DJ Neophyte and DJ Ruthless, so all you hardcore and jumpstyle/French tek lovers won't be disappointed with this release.

Review: Featuring choice selections of twisted-up samples unearthed from dancehall and ragga archives, Seekersinternational make another massive appearance on Sneaker Social Club, building on the manifesto set out on their original RaggaPreservationSociety EP back in 2016. Showing serious dedication to their source material whilst also injecting it with their cosmic-come-experimental approach to production, Seekersinternational embrace the energetic volatility of junglist breaks and the rawness of ragga to deliver an EP that slips effortlessly between the contemporary and the classic. This release is a time-travel device, a portal into ragga-jungle's past and the future.

Set You Free (4:43)
Nah Nah Nah (5:43)
Phat Booty (3:55)
Smoke (3:52)
Review: Since joining forces as Soul Mass Transit System a couple of years ago, Baby J and D Jason have released a wealth of club-ready 12" singles, many of which explore their love of vintage UK garage. This EP on Vivid is a little more eclectic but no less celebratory or peak-time ready. For proof, check saucer-eyed opener 'Set You Free', where giddy old school piano stabs, stretched-out sub-bass and spinetingling female vocal samples ride a rolling breakbeat, and the revivalist hardcore hedonism of the ludicrously bass-heavy 'Nah Nah Nah'. They doff a cap to their bassline roots on crunchy breakbeat roller 'Phat Booty', before drawing a fine EP toa close with the two-step-goes-Niche heaviness of 'Smoke'.

Review: It was way back in 1992 that militant free party mavericks Spiral Tribe finally made it into the studio for the first time. The result was the Forward The Revolution EP, which has finally been given a reissue in honour of its 30th birthday, with all sales royalties going to organisations offering free legal support for free party soundsystem operators in Europe. The four-tracker remains a perfect distillation of the crew's no-holds-barred approach to techno, with highlights including the acid-fired, breakbeat-driven, didgeridoo-sporting title track, with its Woodrow Wyatt speech samples and ragga vocals; the ragga-rave weightiness of 'Ragga Boom', and the breathless, sub-heavy techno psychedelia of 'Track 13 (Criminal Drug)'.

This Sound (6:56)
Space Agent (8:12)
Whispers (6:17)
Review: Few labels are turning out so much high quality drum & bass as Holland's Vibez '93 right now. Most often it is the eponymous in-house production outfit who take care of the beats but here Tommy The Cat steps up after making plenty of big moves on his own Cat I The Bag label since 2019. 'Space Muffin'' is a blissed out post-club comedown with introspective chords, while 'This Sound' is just as deep - a clatter of gentle broken beats and woozy deep space chords. 'Space Agent' then keeps up the insular feels with seductive but sombre chords and spaced out beats and 'Whispers' rigs things to a close on some dusty jungle breaks.
