Over the last 20 years, Stacey Pullen has done more than most to prove the far-reaching potential of Detroit techno, combining the original Motor City futurist ethos with jazz, broken beat, house rhythms, and more experimental, ambient flavours. Here he makes a welcome return to the mix CD format (his last outing was for Fabric in 2003), laying down a superb selection over two hugely enjoyable discs. CD1 moves through a variety of bold, spacey electronic music flavours - IDM, deep house, Italo-influenced workouts - and sounds more like a home listening selection. Dancefloor desires are more than adequately catered for on the second disc, though, where Pullen goes deep into Detroit techno territory with predictably fine results.
