Under the Lake People alias, Martin Enke has been responsible for some quietly impressive releases since 2012. Chief amongst these is 2015 debut album Purposefully Uncertain Field, an expansive set that shuffled between moments of uncomfortable, unsettling darkness and hyopnotic, trippy positivity. There's a similar feel to this follow-up. After beginning with a fine chunk of hypnotic, late night dub techno, Enke variously delivers ragged, acid-fired techno, picturesque ambient soundscapes, deep and jazzy IDM, sweeping cinematic moments, Phuture style acid jack - albeit laden with undulating, new age style melody motifs - and, on the brilliant "Charlie Carlisle", muscular electro/acid house fusion. In other words, it's business as usual for the talented and open-minded Enke.
