Over the last couple of years, there's been a noticeable rise in the number of 7" singles featuring on DJ-friendly re-edits of break-heavy funk and soul favourites. Leading the charge has been the Dusty Donuts label and a group of dusty-fingered producers including Jim Sharp. Here, the latter briefly breaks free of the imprint to deliver two more tried-and-tested jams that blend classic drum breaks and instrumental loops with similarly well-loved hip-hop acapellas. A-side "Gangsta Walk" is the one for us, featuring as it does bongo-laden breaks tailor-made for doubling up, the swirling strings of a much-loved Quantic Soul Orchestra favourite , and Coolio. In other words, it's a tasteful and on-point mash-up that will get the dancefloor moving.
