Last year, Wewantsounds paid tribute to the funk, soul and deep jazz productions of the late, great Bob Shad, via an essential compilation entitled Feeling Good. This follow-up changes tack a little, picking out tracks - most of which are impossible to find or unknown outside of record collecting circles - that showcases Shad's work with spiritual jazz and funk artists. It's a predictably impressive collection, all told, with highlights including Buddy Terry's lengthy 1972 workout "Inner Peace", the sprawling jazz-funk brilliance of Frank Foster's "Requiem for Dusty" and Pete Yellin's wild and wonderful fusion epic, "Dance of Allegra". In other words, it's an impeccable selection of jazz and funk oddities produced by a master of his craft.
