Review: "Noted for being "scared shitless" at the prospect of their upcoming Woodstock gig in 1969, Crosby, Stills Nash & Young were still fledgling performers at this point, this being only their second live appearance as a supergrounp. An evening gig, many of the festival attendees were on their way out; those who stayed for CSNY didn't regret it, though. Careening through originals like Still's 'Judy Blue Eyes' and Paul McCartney's 'Blackbird', the band later caused jaws to drop with the mid-show rollout of Neil Young. Prepare for lovingly remastered psych funk shoulder-swayers on this limited LP and CD bundle.

Review: As the title suggests, this Under The Covers album is a collection of tunes the legendary band played at their live gigs, but which they hadn't actually written themselves. There are many glorious overs here, all of which are very much done in true Pearl Jam fashion - with passion and energy. The collection also demonstrates quite how wild and eclectic the band's taste must have been. As such the collection tells you plenty about their enormous knowledge and love of music past and present. There is plenty to love here, so dig yourself in deep and lap it up.

Review: If ever there was a pivotal year in the history of a band then Fleetwood Mac's 1977 was probably it. Having dived deep into the world of hard, blues-infused, psychedelic rock & roll for most of their previous albums, they turned to the self-titled debut, also known as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, and its slightly poppier, more commercially saleable sound as a jumping off point here, but instead wound up making something that's hard to define in reductive terms like 'pop'. Selling over ten million copies within months of release, the three-way vocals and insanely catchy hooks resonated worldwide, and a global tour ensued. Their show at Tokyo's legendary Nippon Budokan was a standout, and this live recording shows exactly why, presenting all facets of a band that have successfully cracked many sounds.

Review: "These kind of musically freeing, chance meetings between greats must be documented - otherwise we'll have failed our jobs as music cataloguers. In 1991, Led Zeppelin and Whitesnake were prolific rivalling bands - both signed to Geffen Records. Out from this parallel kinship, it's no wonder Jimmy Page and David Coverdale eventually met. Their only studio album - consisting of tour rehearsals broadcast live from a London studio - this 2xLP charts an exclusive series of collaborative originals, breaking away from its former relegation to CD format in 2020. Review: The Firm was a UK supergroup that formed in 1984. Singer Paul Rodgers was the man responsible for getting together with guitarist Jimmy Page and the group became one of the most successful rock outfits of their era. They released a brace of brilliant albums - the self-titled debut in 1985, then a year later Mean Business - and played across the UK and US in the years after. One of the best shows they did was at the Oakland Coliseum on 15th March. Their extraordinary energy and fine set list was recorded for live FM Radio Broadcast and now you can listen back to the whole thing on vinyl for the first time ever.

Review: Gaucho was the seventh studio album from soft-pop-rock-jazzists and yacht rock pioneers Steely Dan. Released in 1980, they would embark on a tour to mark the record's arrival, and then vanish for 20 years. Or at least go on extended hiatus. That's not surprising, given the back story here, with widespread creative disagreements and a three-way legal battle with MCA and Warner Bros ensuing. And an original budget blown by the sheer scope of 42 musicians contributing to the work. The Lost Gaucho is almost an unplugged version of all that. These are the alternative versions recorded in the early sessions that led to the final LP. Broadcast on radio as part of the promotional campaign, they've been compiled on this joyfully smooth and seductive package, which fans need in their lives.

Review: "I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring," David Bowie famously quipped at his 50th Birthday concert in Madison Square Garden. That was 1997, and sadly we can now look back at the years between then and now as the last the icon would enjoy, although given the pantheons of unreleased material, music and other, we still have more than his legacy alone to learn from. He certainly kept his word, then, not least by opting to work with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, a band that found inspiration in myriad styles and sounds, from Human League to Pink Floyd, carving out a 'industrial electronic rock' niche for themselves. In addition to tours and one-off shows, recordings of their collaborations are remarkable, generating fresh wholes from the enormous sums of these parts.

Review: A first-time vinyl pressing of Neil Young & Crazy Horse's appearance at Roskile Festival, Denmark, 2001. Despite his 60s come-up, it was by no means a sunset year for the artist. At this point, the country-rock experimentalist was flannel-shirted, scraggly, and cowboy-hatted, yet didn't approach his then-touring live set with any less vigour than in his heyday. With an up and down stomp, Young takes chomping conviction to his own rock standards 'Hey Hey, My My' and 'Rockin' The Free World', instilling a sense of uptempo grandeur in every listener, willingly or not.
