Review: The Good People & Shar The Analog Bastard featuring Masta Ace is another dope project from this collaborative team. Star himself has produced, mixed and mastered all six of these tunes which are steeped in a classic sound. 'Just Begun' is a nice deep opener with lush chords and smooth mic work. 'When It Comes' brings some great samples and jazzy melodies and 'The Feel' is a real smoker's delight with bendy melodies and Masta Ace in top form. Further guests Meraxx and El Da Sensei add extra character to this tidy EP.

Review: Everyone's favourite "virtual band" returns with its eighth studio album, the Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett-helmed project's first for three years. In keeping with the project's loose, collective concept, the ever-present Albarn - whose voice provides the focal point on the majority of tracks - there's an impressive cast-list of guest musicians present, with Thundercat wielding the bass on the purple funk-influenced title track, Stevie Nicks handling lead vocals on 'Oil', Beck providing a standout turn on 'Possession Island' and Bootie Brown and Tame Impala excelling on album highlight 'New Gold'. As usual, this is hooky, well-made pop that proudly dips its toe in all manner of styles and sub-genres, while sneakily avoiding the pitfalls of shamelessly radio-friendly music. Fans will love it.

They have kept details of this new album under tight guard for a while but what we do know about Cracker Island is that it features a truly all-star lineup of heavyweight guests such as Thundercat, Stevie Nicks, Tame Impala, Bootie Brown, Adeleye Omotayo, Bad Bunny, and Beck. As always the sound is alternative indie and electronic with a playful sense of character.

This one is one of the most universally well-known, a formative record that set an early blueprint. Originally landing in 1982, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five's The Message will always be best known for its title tune, which was one of the earliest tracks to have a potent social commentary as it depicts the stress of living day-to-day with inner-city poverty. The album as a whole is a great capsule of those exciting early times.

The tracklist includes plenty of classics from the worlds of soul, funk, disco and house with household names likes First Choice, Loleatta Holloway, The Salsoul Orchestra and Skyy all featuring several times. This repress comes on limited orange and yellow splattered vinyl.

Review: Based in Bristol, Habitus is a beat-maker, rapper and DJ from the Canary Islands. "Mind De Sample" is his debut album and it's really rather good. Review: Hak Baker's debut album is a socially and politically charged one, that represents the war in his own mind as well as "the culture war on the streets of London and the individual battles of his community." The sound is a spin on mid-00s indie with cheeky chappy vibes and scruffy pop hooks. Earnest cuts like 'Bricks In The Wall' and 'Run' sit with more angsty cuts like 'DOOLALLY (Unreleased)'. Baker has made waves in the last year with sets at Glastonbury, on Jools Holland and BBC's new Eastbank site.
