Works Haffi Run (feat Ghetts - instrumental mix) (3:16)
Mad Ting (feat JME - Flava D remix) (3:24)
Review: Grime and funk, Swindle and D Double E - pairing don't come any finer. A dream team in genres and artists, "Lemon Trees" is every bit as sick as you want it to be. Classic Swindle p-funk laced with a wry electro boogie and topped with some of D's funniest lyrics, this truly is citrus sharp. Ghetts jumps on board for the B: "Works Haffi Run" runs on a leaner groove that influences a staccato delivery from Mr Ghetto who's in full truth mode. Finally Flava D wraps up the package with a grunting 4x4 garage take on last year's JME-fronted smash "Mad Ting".

Review: From Cuba, Mala heads south for another mystic adventure in international cross-pollination on Mirrors, the Deep Medi man's latest LP-length bubbler for Brownswood. Fusing inspirations, energies, talents and techniques from Peru - and working with some of the country's most respected musicians - it's another immersive body of work that genuinely sounds like no other. From the pensive tribal march of "Cusco Street Scene" to the shimmering twangs and dusty, languid claps of "Zapateo" by way of demented insistency of "Looney" and the muddy cosmic textures of "The Calling", Mala has once again immersed himself so deeply into a culture and musical discourse that he not only speaks it fluently but has added to its rich vernacular. Vinyl was invented for albums like this.

Gunfam (4:00)
This Morning (5:00)
Review: Swedish dub soldier LAS returns to Innamind with two skin-singeing smoke-stackers. All foggy and dense, both "Gunfam" and "This Morning" hit with real weight and mysticism. The former comes with more of dancefloor edge due to its slight skip in the kicks and a gangster hook. The latter, as the name suggests, is total sunrise material thanks to its evocative chords, trembling synths and sense of restraint. This one's a percy.

Review: Confession time... Kaiju's slick, innovative consistency is translated into album form with a concept that actually works. Seven sins, seven tracks - each one resembling their title in one way or another. "Envy" sees Jack Gates pouring out his heart, "Greed" groans and croaks like the last man standing at a banquet battle while the gully-grunting "Pride" struts with its head held so high it's almost in the clouds. "Sloth", as you'd expect, is a much slower, spacier, deeper creeper with cavernous room around each percussive element while "Gluttony" shows off the duo's ability by squeezing in almost too many ideas and fresh textures. Finally, "Wrath" lashes out with hard-hitting snare vengeance and "Lust" brings the show to a sweet, soft-focus close with Riya and Total Science providing the perfect deep dream textures. Sinfully good.

Review: Wow has it really been ten years? Tectonic Plates Vol. 1 landed back in 2006 and saw label boss Pinch call on exclusive tracks from the likes of Skream, Distance, Digital Mystikz and Loefah. We can't overstate how integral this compilation was to the early days of dubstep, tracks like Loefah's "System" or "Bahl FWD" from Skream have undoubtedly grown to define the era! Looking to mark the occasion Tectonic have elected to grant Tectonic Plates Vol. 1 a ten year anniversary double-vinyl edition - hooray we say! Also included is the dubplate heavy mix CD from Pinch with some of the twenty tracks still remaining unreleased to this day.

Drowsy (3:35)
Street Knowledge (5:08)
Review: Time for some proper, authentic dubstep: District returns to Chestplate with two straight up slabs of bass power. "Drowsy" starts with a slouchy funk to the beat before dropping into a fat, fuzzy 2008 bassline that refuses to hold back its playfulness. "Street Knowledge" is a much darker creeper of a cut with it lava bassline oozing down the volcanic halfstep drums. All sci-fi and pranged out, drop this after 3am and you'll be nothing short of knighted.

The Progress (3:31)
Devi (3:54)
Review: Launched earlier this year, Kromestar's freshly-minted label Library Music looked to the considered talents of one Daniel Scrilla for its debut transmission; the Tell Dem 12" set the bar high in terms of quality, forward thinking Electronic Bass Music. It's no wonder then, that Kromestar himself commits some fresh cuts for this second Library release then, with lead cut "The Progress" a ripe example that classicist dubstep still feels fresh and vital. On the flip, "Devi" comes across like a classic Deep Medi B-side, pairing flute melodies from a distant continent with a sense of space and some killer drum programming.

War Of The Minds (feat Werd2Jah) (4:28)
Review: New Zealand duo Truth have been irregular contributors to the Deep Medi cause since their debut on Mala's label back in 2009. In this time, Andre Fernandez and Tristan Roake have spread the Truth gospel for dubstep heads with further releases on Firepower, Tempa, Boka and more. War Of The Minds sees Truth back on Deep Medi for the duo's first 12" of 2016 replete with some eye-catching cover art from m7grafiks. From the opening sub heave and lolloping rollage of "Jade Helm" you can tell Fernandez and Roake made these cuts with Deep Medi in mind, honing in successfully on a very specific mood. The brute force bass of "With Us" and the Werd2Jag guesting title cut are the pick here.

Man Like Me (3:03)
Review: James Blake temporarily downs tools as a melancholic sub-pop crooner to pick up close to where he left off with releases on Hemlock and Hessle Audio back in the day. For his own 1800 Dinosaur label he invites Javan St. Prix, aka grime MC Trim, to spit rhymes like "I surf waves most men drown in" over Blake-made digital vibraphone tones and syncopated, computer game basslines. On the flip, Trim, who's appeared on Keysound, Butterz and R&S in the past, dons the gloves for a second round called "Man Like Me", this time produced by Airhead who strips the melodies back for shuddering beats and strange, jingling percussion. Fresh.

Von D - "Analog Sound" (5:36)
Egoless - "Bubble Beat" (4:51)
Review: France meets the Balkans on this tasty double-up from two of deep bass music's finest, most forward-looking operators. Von D takes the wheel first: a deliciously stately kick stomps along unhurried as a thick layers weave in and out of the mix with cosmic allure. Egoless switches mid-journey with a much darker design. Again, the pace is slow but the energy and weight is undeniable as the rusty sound bass groans under the pressure of it all. Serious system stuff, right here.

Review: Absolute damage: Spooky finally unleashes two of his biggest summer dubs. And he's doing it in pure pink vinyl style. Fiesta slaps with a well-known sample before hopping onto the gulliest skank of his life. The groove says party, but the bass says murderation. Flip for an even fruitier piece of funk as Eric Donaldson's reggae classic gets the murking it never knew it needed. Make no mistakes: Spooky is donning it right now.

Computer Sound (4:39)
Review: Soloman Rose aka Silkie returns for Deep Medi; the dubstep label run by Mala of Digital Mystikz, while in addition appearing on labels as diverse as Antisocial Entertainment, Soul Jazz and Skream's Disfigured Dubz. This follows up last month's wicked Topper Top EP and it's more of the same street level, low end theories once again. Starting out with the wonky, thumping, horns-led stomp of the title track, there's more quality on offer with "Jah Man" and its proper low end snarl, supported by hypnotic chime pads. On the flip, get ready for the straight up and bouncy grime stylings of "Computer Sound" serving up some late night pirate radio vibes for sure.

Wallwork & Nan Kole - "Fyah" (instrumental) (4:18)
Review: It's a house-grime marriage on Bristol's Black Acrel label, from newfound dup Wallwork and Nico Lindsay, the latter of the two bringing the vocal street swagger to the beats. The title track "Facts" is a big, bad, heavy slab of percussion and bass powered by Lindsay's curbside lyricism, and it's one of those tunes that's bound to get shit tarted in the dance. This is followed by the more kinetic flow of "Fyah", where Lindsay's vocals are more minimal than its predecessor, and its rough and rugged instrumental for maximum DJ damage. Another banging addition to the Black Acrew crew - yes!

Space Horror (5:36)
Step On Lava (3:59)
Review: Blacklist hit release number five and it's the label bossman doing what he does best: taking us down dark paths on twisted, subverted adventures we didn't even know existed. "Space Horror" bundles us into the boot of a rusty old rocket and speeds down the backstreets of Omicron Persei 8 where the drums slouch along the slimy alleys and bassline groan and fall out of dark corners. "Walk On Lava" sees us being chucked out of the spaceship from a great height into the eye of a volcano. With blistering kicks and a tense acid line, will we make it out on time or will our geese get cooked? There's only way to find out...

Redshift (4:13)
Review: Scene sergeant Youngsta returns with his first full release in years. Tag-teaming with rising producer Cimm, the vibe is deep, roomy and constructed with a stately, unhurried alien funk. Every element considered and fine-tuned, both tracks take us deep into a meditative mindset without ever pressing the snooze button: "Split Minds" rolls with bass tones so warm they almost bounce while "Redshift" takes us into an even dubbier pasture with some great attention paid to the sporadic rhythm elements. Beautiful.

Yen Pox (5:20)
Inland (4:12)
Review: Scant details are held on Yung Moony but it's likely he's not of this world... The beats on "Yen Pox" say as much. With their industrial hip-hop swag, they create a momentum and feeling that's seldom found on a dubstep joint. Fresh but familiar; the same approach is applied on "Inland" as stretched tones create unease before drooping into rich pools of emotion. Again with the loopy hip-hop mentality, there's a reason Gourmet and FKOF picked up on Moonstones so quickly last year.

Review: Clandestine version business on a one sided 10" white label as "Give Dem" from Shabba Ranks' gets the 20,000 league deep subaquatic finish it's always needed but never deserved. Processing the vocals for a barbed, subtly demonic affect and emphasising the pure weight of the drums, whoever Themosthigh truly is, they're in a very special place right here.

Finis Gloriae Mundi (6:02)
Review: Barely a fortnight has passed since the gully Frenchman we know and love as Monsieur Von D shared an exceptional release with Egoless and already he's back. This time he's on Infernal Sounds, which is already proof of its quality - considering how selective and detail-oriented the label have been since launching two years ago. "Cross Of Hendaye" is a solid mechanical roller with heaps of human funk coded into the waspy bassline. "Remember" is a straight up homage to the early days with a sub that palpitates so heavily and tangibly your own heartbeat will sync within seconds. True to the craft.

Review: Jamie Vex'd returns to his Kuedo project after several years working both underground and commercial sector as an engineer, sound designer and composer. His return couldn't have happened soon enough. "Slow Knife" is anchored by a strong sense of score-like sci-fi throughout as tracks such as the spectrum creeping alien trains of "Slow Knife" and the smouldering twangs and pensive vibrations of "Love Theme" create a dense, sense-blurring narrative. Elsewhere Jamie finds time to escape into raw futuristic soul ("In Your Sleep"), wry broken beat dancefloor procession ("Floating Forest") and overwhelmingly immersive sound design ("Broken Fox") This is just the tip of a sonic iceberg that will take many exciting listens to get acquainted with.

Four Four Claps (6:02)
Review: Compa hails from Manchester, but his productions and his sound are quite deeply imbedded into London's rich dubstep dynasty. The young bass wizard is back on Mala's Deep Medi Muzik, starting off with the murky stepper riddim called "Truth In Sound", a wreckage of beats and sonics that is dissolved by the mutant waves of "Noctule". "Tibetan Chant" is more of a tribal dance ritual to the Gods, and "Four Four Claps" turns things nastier and away from the deeper waters that we're used to hearing Compa sail on.

Review: Sweet summer dub direct from Italy, D Operation Drop have always flirted with the more organic sound palettes but this is a whole new level. Big horns and authentic dynamics and arrangements; you really don't get much more rootsy than this... "Trident" is all about the plucked guitar line and star-gazing trumpet, "Common Rules" is more about the whole bass groove that leans heavily into the future supported by a select amount of hazy instruments. Essential for any daytime outdoor sets you have this summer.

Uck Foff (4:41)
Review: It's been a strong year for Balkan badman Egoless who pulled in a whole new field of ears with his insanely on-point ska cover of Benga & Coki's "Night". "I'm From The Bakans" is a great showcase of his leftfield weight. The title track is an ardent reminder that we still have heaps of room to experiment in drums and textures with rhythm combinations that sound like no other. "Psychonautilus" is powered by creepy dreams. All wonky, foggy and freaky - if Nicolas Jaar did dub, he wouldn't sound too far from this. "Uck Foff" keeps us in the dense mists as thick atmospheres are broken but a strangely shuffling beat and unpredictable mechanical bass tones. No one is doing it like Egoless.

A huge track in mixes and dances like Control and Outlook, its whining, cawing riff really does resemble the oily air-rats and does so with an authentic mid 2000s stripped back rawness.
