Bogeyman Bullshit (5:36)
Smother (feat Marcus Intalex & Bricktop) (6:01)
Multi Tasking (5:41)
Dream Of You (5:32)
Review: After a stupendously prolific 2013 and 2014 (wherein he delivered no less than four albums), Calibre appears to have taken his foot off the gas and slipped into a more comfortable release-rate. Following his "Strumpet" EP on Exit comes this ace four-tracker that represents all his drum & bass styles: "Boogeyman Bullshit" is Dominick Martin at his darkest and most mischievous, all wobbly bass and slippery. "Smother" (featuring long term compadre Marcus Intalex) slaps with big washy chords that chime with an almost Detroitian hypnotic affect, "Multi Tasking" is a swam of sonic bees that have set up a nest in Metalheadz HQ circa 1997 and show no sign of budging. Finally, with its twinkling arpeggios and major chords "Dream Of You" is Calibre at his dreamiest and most emotional... Then drop comes and, once again, his sub bass melts your cones. Immaculate.

Ghost (4:16)
Tremors (3:07)
Review: Ram champs Delta Heavy are deep into their debut album. And if this type of spread is what we can expect from it, we're in for a treat; "Ghost" is the lead track. All radio-ready and heavy on the vocals, it's in the same league as La Roux's "In For The Kill" (albeit at a different tempo). After something much darker and gnarly? Flip for "Tremors". The clue in the title; it's the duo at their hardest and heaviest. Two sides, two stories, two more reasons to keep Delta Heavy locked on the radar.

Approach & Identify (6:28)
Approach & Identify (Demdike Stare remix) (7:03)
Review: When Nonplus announced plans to reissue some of Source Direct's mid '90s output backed with remixes, the revelation that Demdike Stare were among those commissioned made for interesting reading. The Modern Love pair have been exploring sandblasted jungle through their recent Testpressing 12" series so it makes perfect sense for them to work their Lancastrian magic on a Source Direct classic. Demdike Stare's Cross Border Incursion is far removed from the original, pushing Source Direct into an alien echo chamber of stripped back textures and brooding sub-bass. . Of course there are plenty of Nonplus fans not familiar with Source Direct's original 1995 version of "Approach & identify" and the chance to indulge here in a slice of jungle history should not be passed up.

Blade 9 (6:39)
Break North (5:59)
Review: One of the most creatively fruitful and natural production partnerships jungle has ever spawned; Nucleus and Paradox continue to dig deep into the classic breaks and set new benchmarks in both curation and sample creativity. "Blade 9" slaps relentlessly under a heavy web of designs, tripped out noises and gurgling bass. "Break North" is a much starker, stripped back affair with a finely chiselled kick-snare two-step hammering beneath cosmic synth flickers, bass depth plunges and occasional deep breath pads. Timeless.

You're Next (6:06)
Music City (5:02)
Review: After taking a well-deserved break to bask in the reception to last year's debut album The Fourth Wall, South Coast pair James Davidson and Greg Hepworth are back on the 12" flex with this hefty new slab of Ulterior Motive badness for Metalheadz. Lead track "You're Next" pulls no punches thanks to a vicious lead Reese bassline that's got more snarl than a yard full of Rottweilers and some unpredictable drums. Complementing this, "Music City" bristles with sonic tension and energy, implementing similar levels of funk to Ulterior Motive's album cut "Sideways".

If This Is Love (4:19)
If This Is Love (VIP) (4:06)
Review: Ram duo DC Breaks don their Bermuda shorts, slap on the sunny and capture the seasonal spirit with this sumptuous guitar-blessed roller. Think early Marky, think Patife, think sunset vibes at your favourite festival. A little too light for your barbed, bass-bitten soul? Jump on the VIP and prepare to get murked. Is this love? no it's bloody lovely.

Secret Smile (feat Lucy Kitchen) (5:36)
Dirty Hands (5:17)
Flashbulb (4:49)
Remember You (5:28)
Review: Their first new material since their evergreen debut album Desire Paths, Shogun duo Technicolour and Komatic deliver four breezy rollers in time for the warmer months. "Secret Smile" is all about Lucy Kitchen's arresting delicate vocal while "Dirty Hands" takes us deeper into Reese territory with its surging bass and ghostly vocal echoes. Deeper again we hit the title track "Flashbulb", a reflective halftime stepper with another instantly infectious vocal texture. Bringing us to sweet, string-soaked steppy finale, "Remember You" pushes us further into the D&B cosmos with a timeless, almost progressive feel that wouldn't have gone amiss around 10 years ago. Stunning through and through; Technimatic can do no wrong right now.

BTK & Cold Fusion - "Not Your Idol" (5:31)
Battery - "Essence" (6:07)
Loxy & Resound - "The Hour" (6:06)
NC-17 - "Jet Lagged" (5:21)
Review: Techstep pioneers Renegade are set to shut up shop next year, so make the most of these final releases... Four tracks heavy, this EP sums up every reason Renegade has developed such a strong reputation in the game: BTK & Cold Fusion show us how vocals can be done in a big way without sounding cheesy on "Not Your Idol" while Battery (Craggs and Parallel's new project) is a joy ride straight back to 1994 in a 2025-built car. Loxy & Resound switch up their dubbier motifs for something much harder and darker but still ultimately lean and sinewy and finally NC-17 closes the show with a firing slice of nasty. With a fine-tuned Reece that whistles like a wasp, this could have been dropped at any Renegade party over the last 15 years and would guarantee a rewind each and every time.

The General (Ed Solo remix) (4:24)
The General (MIR Crew remix) (3:51)
Review: Jungle and reggae don General Levy gets the Cake treatment. Label co-boss Ed Solo takes the lead with a party-minded bass-bulged jump-up jam that we've come to love and expect from Jungle Cakes. MIR Crew go one step deeper with their twist; maintaining the tempo and the toughening up the drums a little, the bass action is more focused on the wriggling subs that are revealed dynamically throughout the arrangement. Authentic jungle business.

Blessing (6:50)
Stormtrooper (feat Arp 1) (6:55)
Review: Liquid Drumz off-shoot LD return to the vinyl realms with two soul-punching rollers courtesy of dRamatic & DBaudio. "Blessing" is akin to the likes of Utah Jazz and Makoto thanks to its horn-focused sample-shocked groove and lush spoken-word breakdown. Flip for the cinematic heroics of "Stormtrooper". Coming on strong like an Ennio Morricone score, thanks to its tribal drum-thumping and detailed percussion, it's up there with dRamatic & DBaudio's finest works to date.

Break - "Top Shooter" (6:02)
Review: Five years have passed since Bristol-based beat-chiseller Break last dropped the A-bomb. The whole scene has changed hugely since then, but with his new LP Break is preparing to take us back to the days when only the groove (and some perfectly processed snares) mattered: The Kyo-fronted "Simpler Times" is a barbed soul roller with just the right amount of roughage while "Top Shooter" is a straight up slapper with deep rumbling subs and Break's gritty rhythm signature. Bring on the album!

Fussin & Fightin (5:14)
Don't Fool Rasta (4:30)
Review: Since launching last summer, Pixel & Mystic Pulse's Rasta Vibez label has carved a niche for itself among the drum and bass community for those seeking out some dub and reggae flecked jungle cuts for the dance. Number four in the series sticks to that formula with typically rowdy results with A-side track "Fussin & Fightin" the one here. Pixel & Mystic Pulse beef up the Dennis Brown classic of the near-same name, adding some sub weight and plenty of junglist breakbeat ripples. The more adventurous selectors might want to try mixing this with "Armagideon Time" by Willie Williams.

Hotblooded (4:56)
Bill Folderson (3:27)
Review: Man of the moment Rene LaVice really can't do any wrong right now. Straight off the back of a massive Nero remix and a Spor tour here he lays down two more gully gospels: "Hotblooded" comes with that aggy, scruffy punky sound he explored on the Nero remix; all live drums and rag-tag arrangements. "Bill Folderson", meanwhile, takes off where "The Calling" left us with its scorching, searing bassline that seemingly tears through everything in its path. An absolute gem for all you double droppers out there.

Just Can't Take (feat DRS - DBridge remix) (4:04)
Review: One of the many premiere league D&B artists to have emerged from The Netherlands, Lenzman galvanised seven years of production kudos with his stunning debut album last year on Metalheadz. Now comes the all-essential, star-studded remix EP as we're treated to rubs from some of the finest names in the game: Ivy Lab strip "Paper Places" right back to its soulful bones, man-of-the-moment LSB gets his Calibre on with velvet pads and unrelenting drums, Ulterior Motive flip "Tearz" into a brutal stepper with an array of bass wheezes and groans that sound like they've got a 40-a-day habit, while the legendary dBridge adds a sharp two-step to the perennial soul/jazz roller "Just Can't Take". Each one of them representing the true essence of remix, Metalheadz have put together something very special here.

Serial Killaz & Run Tingz Cru - "Sound A Sound" (4:47)
Review: Reload fingers at the ready: Run Tingz celebrate five years of jungle fury with this enormous collaboration with long-term conspirators Serial Killaz. First up a muscular shakedown of Future Prophecies' iconic "Dreadlock". With added drum damage and more balls-out bass than was conceivable when it first dropped in 2004, it's an instant pleasure-packer for old ears and new. Flip for a brand new Killa Tingz original "Sound A Sound". Tapping into the skank science that united the two acts in the first place, it's another sweaty showdown from the West Country's finest.

Our Turn (feat Charlie P) (5:57)
Review: Matt Lowe and Josh White have perfected a formula for silky drum and bass as Hybrid Minds that was deployed to excellent fashion on their 2013 album Mountains. Issued on Spearhead Recordings, we can thank label boss BCEE for coaxing some new Hybrid Minds material out of Lowe and White in the shape of the four track Lifted EP. Lead cut "Kismet" features the delicate vocals of Lenzman and Tokyo Prose collaborator Riya, with her delivery a perfect match for the shuffling beats and calming melodies. It's an approach that continues as the record develops with Matt Banks and Charlie P called on to lend some vocal urgency to the production work of Hybrid Minds.

Review: Back to (the old) school: DJ Monk delivered a blueprint jungle jam in 1994 with this MC-sampling foul-up. Rusty amens, hooky-vocal, toxic subs: each element as timeless as jungle itself. Remix-wise L Double unearths a previously unreleased mix from 1995 that is heavily reminiscent of the early Bristol Full Cycle sound, Liondub flip the contemporary switch with a waspy metallic bassline while London don and all-round Go Getter Papa Gee throws down a version that's so well executed it will sing to both the jump-up and the deep crews with full-flex charm.

Midnight Oil (feat Digital) (4:51)
The Lake (4:25)
Review: Om Unit, or Professor Do-No-Wrong as we prefer to call him, steps up to his own Cosmic Bridge imprint once again for four ridiculously on-point bass jams: "Wagonist Riddim" thrusts the half tempo axis so hard it's inside out with the drums on slow but the bassline on fast. "Spiritwerk" is a straight up jungle homage with a knife-dicing vocal most of us will be more than familiar with. "Midnight Oil" lollops with tribal drum work that's so physical you can feel yourself being punched repeatedly while "The Lake" lives up to its title... Tidal grooves ebb and flow of a waterfall drum arrangement while instrumental elements land and flicker with organic glee. Very much like the eco-system it takes its name from.

Review: The Dexcell three-piece have smashed it once again with some of the smoothest drum and bass Eps around at the moment. Kicking off this long-awaited EP is "Never Free" featuring the sweet and sultry vocals of Ellie Mae, and the team enlist a number of talented vocalist throughout their latest offering. Six Blade makes an appearance on the darkly atmospheric "I Know" and new to the scene Louisa Bass offers up her emotive voice for the soaring "Water". "Used To Be" rounds off the quartet with some gorgeous sound design touches and pitch-shifting to create a mysterious, experimental track that's possibly the best on the EP. Lose yourself.

Review: Recently spotted on Ed Rush's Piranha Pool, French trio lay down the gully gospel on ever-dependable Hungarian outlet Eatbrain. "Interzone" is a dense neuro jam with that itchy, scratchy scuffling riff that Audio's made his own for many years. Review: Need For Mirrors really don't mess around. Hot on the heels of this year's releases on Fokuz, Warm Comms and Symmetry comes their debut on BMTM. The minimal bouncer "Ethos" is all about the paranoid bass tones that rise and rise disturbingly in a way that's more frequently found in an Oliver Huntemann techno track. Vibes are flipped on the B with the jazzier "Self Portrait". With a sharp skip on the drums and trembling keys, it's hard not to listen without comparing it to the classic compositions of late 90s Alex Reece. Comparisons don't get any higher.

"I'll Be Your Eyes" is straight back to 91 with nasty rusty amens and alien vocal textures, "We Copy" is a little more linear and less chaotic with a really devilish acid line and humming subs reminiscent of an LFO bomb.
