Don't You Worry
You've Forgotten
Spinning On The Spot
Review: It looks like Paul Mac really has fired up the old Jorge Zamacona alias again since several of his DJ tools appeared in the early noughties on Ben Sims Ingoma imprint and more recently appearing on Zurich's Tardis and of course Steve O'Sullivan's Mosaic: who present us with this awesome EP. "Don't You Worry" is loopy and discofied power-house much in the same vein as Ben Sims' Ron Bacardi alias: this stuff will jack you in relentless fashion! "You've Forgotten" however is more reminiscent of the stuff on his Tardis release: stripped and dubby house that's hypnotic as much as it is funky. Finally on the flip is the tough techno DJ tool "Spinning On The Spot" which is powered by some furious and bass heavy toms for the most part as well as those haunting dub chords.

Keep Bouncin' (5:00)
Chaka's Revenge (6:31)
My Life (4:50)
These Words (4:53)
No Words (3:50)
Review: It's been a while since Detroit producer Javonntte last treated us to a collection of tracks, with his last fresh material dropping way back in 2008. Since, he's kept himself busy by playing instruments on records by Mike Grant's Cool Ppl project. There's much to admire on this five-track collection, from the fluid deep house bump of "Bounce" - whose killer bassline impressively drives things forward - and wavy late night positivity of "Chaka's Revenge", to the classic US deep house brightness of "My Life". The EP concludes with two versions of "These Words"; the super-soulful, vocal dreaminess of "Mix 3", and the similarly warm and comforting "Original Instrumental".

I:Cube - "Disco Cubizm" (Daft Punk remix) (8:10)
Cheek - "Venus (Sunshine People)" (DJ Gregory unreleased pass) (7:12)
Review: Given Versatile Records' 20-year history, we'll forgive them the odd spot of nostalgic navel-gazing - especially since there's plenty of forgotten gold hidden in their vaults. This fourth installment in the Versatile Classics series sees Gilb'r and company re-trace their French Touch era disco-house roots. First, there's another chance to savour Daft Punk's brilliant early remix of I:Cube's French Touch-meets-deep house classic "Disco Cubizm", which originally surfaced way back in 1996. On the flip, they present something previously unheard: a different version of DJ Gregory's similarly classic rework of Cheek's "Venus (Sunshine People)", an obscure early Gilb'r production that retains it's warm, happy, anthem-like feel 20 years after it was first released.

Peripherals
Review: "Fat Dog Records continues it's quest to deliver timeless electronic music with this polished four track EP by Mark Hand. Deeply personal and reflective "Peripherals" is a milestone for Mark whose previous releases have been championed by the likes of Prosumer, Soulphiction, Session Victim, Russ Gabriel and Hunee."Jaded" and "Another Broken Sunday" draw inspiration from Detroit capturing the beauty of cosmic techno perfectly. "Assumptions" features samples of Mark's late father playing saxophone alongside Sun Ra resulting in a profound and meaningful example of modern jazz fusion whilst the title track "Peripherals" draws the EP to a close with a delicate piece of poignant ambience."

Spring
Dust
Spring (Man Power remix)
Spring (Ajukaja & Andrevski remix)
Review: Israeli-born Berlin based producer and DJ Omer debuts his first release on Cocktail d'Amore with two offerings of celestial house. The title cut blends the sounds of the east with an immediately seductive atmosphere of bright melodies leaving the listener plenty of room to be transfixed through it's entirety. "Dust" dives deeper to reveal a more melancholic mood built on a symphony of lush pads and swirling metallic percussion. On remix duties are the wonderfully quirky Estonian duo Ajukaja & Andrevski who deliver an oddball re-imagining which sends the original into outer space as it gently builds to sparkling fervor only heard on the outskirts of galaxies. Rounding out the release is Man Power with an acid tinged burner which explodes into en excitement of live percussion and pads leaving any dance floor in complete ecstasy.

Review: There was much applause when French house legend Gregory Darsa revisited his stripped down '90s project Point G with the launch of an eponymous label back in 2013, which resulted in a series of 12"s, double and triple packs swiftly snapped up by the deep house cognoscenti. The popularity of the Point G sound has led the French to issue some label highlights digitally this month for the very first time, but he's not relenting on the physical format he loves so much as evidenced on this 8th release. Arriving in a rather satisfying triple pack, revamped versions of previous Point G gems such as "Braka" and "Druker" feature alongside unreleased cuts with compatriot Lazare Hoche rounding out proceedings on a rasping, warm note with a reshape of "Hands." Essential.

Review: With Alexander Lay Far's latest album, How I Communicate, the epitome of a beast at 17 tracks long, Local Talk wisely chose to split up the vinyl edition into two double packs. The first one dropped back in January and we now get to savour the second helping of the best cuts from the Russian house casual's refined second album. Commencing with the Detroitian-sounding "Submerging," the six tracks here demonstrate Lay Far's talents lay beyond the confines of deep house with the wondrous Mark De Clive Lowe collaboration "Jump Higher" a towering highlight. Taking full advantage of the New Zealander's talents behind the keys, this cut finds Lay Far dabbling in a vibrant broken beat style!

Review: This new label popped up earlier this year, purporting to feature previously unreleased tracks from the studio sessions of one of New York's seminal production crews. Regardless of the validity of this, Vol one promptly sold out which probably had something to do with the quality of the tracks! A second volume is now here under the banner Give Me Shelter, and brandishes another six tracks of prime US house rich in that deep '90s flavour. All untitled and they all kick it hard in the mix.

Northern Reach (6:36)
Review: Irish legends Fish Go Deep are back! Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson are the duo behind the hit "The Cure And The Cause" from the mid noughties and are still at it, releasing mainly on their own goDEEP imprint but this time appear on Mad Mats and Tooli's Local Talk. "Off Script" is deep (naturally) and dubby techno-soul; those emotive strings and Aril Brikha style synths are so Detroit, it's just brilliant! On the flip the dubby and rolling grooves continue with more soul in the circuitry on "Northern Reach". Nice one fellas, keep it yp!

Forevermore (9:16)
No Requests (Special Request Fantasy FM mix) (10:26)
Review: Like many producers who grew up in Yorkshire during the early '90s, Paul Woolford has fond memories of Sheffield-based pirate radio station Fantasy FM. As the cover - based on the station's distinctive logo - makes clear, Forever More is little less than a love letter to the rave-era pirate. While the title track sparkles with vintage Italo-house attitude - think bold piano riffs, bouncy grooves and extended solos - it's the accompanying "No Requests (Special Request Fantasy FM Mix)" that really hits home hard. Under the hardcore and jungle influenced Special Request moniker, Woolford delivers a retro-futurist smasher that effortless joins the dots between Yorkshire bleep, early hardcore, and the Belgian rave records that followed. Brilliantly, it also finishes with a two-minute advert for a party in Bridlington, lifted from an old Fantasy FM recording.

Review: Dj Sounds presents Moving, a 3 tracks record made for the dancers and the Djs. Track 1 "Moving" is an elegant built around a filtered disco-ish sample, simple while very efficient. "Casa Suave" is a classic sounding House track, easy to spin and sure to please the crowd. Closing the record, "Fragments" is a bit slower and deeper with its Roland pads and bass, still very danceable.

BJ & CPEN - "You Got ME Going Crazy Berlin Dub"
Don't Forget To Smile
Review: By now Holic Trax is one of the most assured house labels of the day. As such it makes sense that they turn to another well regarded house producer in Brett Johnson for their next EP. Johnson is an American who has excelled at every dance style over the years. With a classical bent to his tunes, he likes bump and groove and always serves up no nonsense jams on labels like Classic, Housewax and Visionquest. Here he excels with three new tracks as well as one collaboration with tech house legend CPEN. Sumptuous "Slow Tide" is the slick opener and is the sort of soulful, expertly produced jam only a veteran could come up with. Smooth synths have a real sense of feeling, skipping drums bring the groove and a rich bassline recalls the work of Chi town great, Boo Williams. The delicious "Music" is then more direct and physical, with scratchy perc and epic drums punching out a busy pattern. Glass tinkles and smeared pads soften the edges of this deep but jacking track The standout "You Got Me Going Crazy (Berlin Dub)" then finds Brett teaming up with cult figure CPEN to excellent effect. It is a trippy and freaky late night tech cut with slinky lines, spooky vocals and real electronic funk in its bones. Sure to set ?floors on fire, it gets followed up by the joyous house skip, modern soul and bendy machine funk of "Don't Forget to Smile".

Al Bradley - "Kindergesicht"
Carlo Gambino - "Acid Casual"
Ben Dean - "Track Three"
Michael Scott - "Underdisc"
Review: "After 10 years away from vinyl, 3am Wax Vol.1 hails a return to 12' on the label, now in its 13th year. The EP features an all-3am regular artist cast, three making their debut on vinyl and one making a return to 12' after a 12 year gap. 3am boss Al Bradley opens the EP, while label regulars Carlo Gambino, Ben Dean and Michael Scott all return for the 12". With over 400 releases and remixes between the artists, the EP showcases in-house talent from the label - the emphasis on quality rather than names. Ranging from Berlin-influenced deepness through to raw analog acid house, the EP has been doing damage at label gigs throughout 2015 including Berlin, Ibiza, Copenhagen, New York, London & label-home Leeds, with plaudits and support also coming in from a wide range of DJs from the promo."

La Dame Et Le Conga (Rick Wade Magnificent deep mix) (6:45)
What U Feel Like (5:42)
Review: Hot on the heels of that rather wondrous Le Sampler Des Copains doublepack, Pablo Valentino's Faces label returns proffering a debut for long serving Italian DJ and producer Giovanni Damico. The White Rabbit Recordings boss has quite the impressive discography, with 12" shaped emissions on Bitter Moon, Lumberjacks in Hell, Seven Limited and Black Key Records. His La Dame Et Le Conga EP fits snugly into the Faces aesthetic and yes it does feature some conga on the title cut. An apparent nod to Damico's latin and jazz past, "La Dame Et Le Conga" is quite exquisite in both its original form and the accompanying Magnificent Deep remix from Rick Wade. Either side of those Damico brings some soul heavy and sample heavy house vibes with closer "What U Feel Like" a real B-side gem.

What Am I Supposed To Do Now? (6:27)
Unification (6:37)
Review: Italian producer based in Berlin who runs Uaudio with Eternauta has affiliations with the LiveJam and Relative (via Sperimentazioni Sonore) crew, so you know what you're in for here. It's tough and dusty analogue house attacks at street level on the A side with "Track 1" a loopy and overdriven funky disco house cut. It sounds like DJ Sneak on PCP. Meanwhile "Aware" exercises a bit more restraint on this deep acid number, it seems, until the 808 kick comes in and stomps all over your ears. On the flip "What Am I Supposed To Do Now" follows in suit, a sample repeats that very refrain over a decayed and rust encrusted groove while closer "Unification" has some emotive pads trying to hypnotise you if not for the track's jagged and disjointed sense of swing trampling all over you in the process.

Bell Rock Outpost (Seahawks remix) (2:37)
Review: Four years after its original release, tracks from Land of Light's eponymous album get a new set of remixes. Fans of Lovefingers' ESP Institute label may recall the orginal remixes, released back in 2012, and this new set are just as essential. Kuniyuki Takahashi's take on the title track sets the tone, with sensuous ambient textures and gently warbling guitars creating an atmospheric mood. Tambien's version is just as esoteric, but slightly more understated, while Seahawks rounds off this latest remix package with his take on "Bell Rock Outpost". Juddery, slow-paced drums and warm, jazzy piano lines create another beautiful piece of music - tailor-made for those sunset moments.

Basic Luv (5:42)
Review: Having previously plied his trade on Deepjacking Recordings and Moulton Music, Phaze Dee transfers to Mike Grant's long-running Moods & Grooves stable. He begins in some style, layering up classic deep house elements - snaking sax samples, electronic flourishes, a booming bassline, drifting pianos - on standout A-side "Game Of Life". "Game Of Life" explores similar territory, with a classic house riff and soulful vocal samples stretching out atop a chunky groove, before he channels the spirit of early Chicago house on the rather delicious "Basic Luv". The track's synth bassline and chiming melodies are undoubtedly loved-up, while the swirling pads are reminiscent of classic Larry Heard and Ron Trent material.

Review: Hands up who's fantasized about an extra-large doner kebab with all the trimmings? Well, Irish duo Brame & Hamo certainly have. Ironically, "Kebab Dreams" is much tastier than your average late night takeaway, with eyes-closed Rhodes notes, hazy chords and sparkling synth motifs riding a bouncy and bumpy deep house groove. The sweetness continues on the slightly more driving "Cert City", where jazzy samples and a relentless bassline are expertly combined with restless, live-sounding house percussion. Finally, they up the tape hiss and Theo Parrish style jazz samples on "Retch Wretcheness", a swinging saunter through dusty deep house territory full of hooky stabs and fizzing cymbals.
