Feelin' Good (bonus beats) (1:05)
The Grapevine (The Andantes version) (3:14)
Spare Parts (0:25)
Review: The only time in the known universe when having your bike nicked is a good thing... Vancouver turntable champ Nick Bike returns on his own Chosen Spokes imprint with another beat bouquet. Armed with his now signature skill of taking well known classics, here we takes on two of the biggest possible tracks and rewires them for today's beat-hungry floors. James Brown goes under the knife as "I Feel Good" gets a sharp shuffle with full emphasis on the swing while the in-house backing band The Andantes version of Whitfield & Strong's Gaye classic gets a sultry twist. Complete with a beat version and DJ tools, Nick rides right into the heart of another sweet beat success.

The Poets Of Rhythm - "The Plan"
Wallace Brothers - "What Cha Feel Is What Cha Get"
Review: Originally out on the Practice What You Preach album from 1993, "The Plan" by German funkateers Poets of Rhythm has never been pressed up as a single, but has always remained much sought-after by the funk heads, and why wouldn't it be? It's got it all: a James Brown kind of sleaziness backed by a jump-up groove and a sliding set of organs. Wallace Brothers feature on the flip, with the rare funk blazer by the name of "What Cha Feel Is What Cha Get", a rare floor-dominator now available for your turntable. Records are your friends, Mukatsuku leads the way! As played by Mr Thing,Snowboy,Dean Rudland,Smoov etc

Listen To Your Mama (instrumental - Tom Moulton remix) (2:37)
Review: Guyden Records are pleased to announce their newest release for the Brewerytown Beats DJ series. They are, in their own words "continuing to dig, discover, remix & remaster and re-release quality Philadelphia funk & soul from the Phil L.A. of Soul archives." "Listen To Your Mama" has been a highly sought after collectors classic for quite a while. This version in fact having the never-before released instrumental B side. It was remixed by by the legendary Tom Moulton from the original session tapes and re-mastered by Peter Humphreys at Masterwork Recording Inc. Above all: it was hand picked by the lovely tastemakers Brewerytown Beats!

Don't Go (feat Joe Quarteman) (4:00)
Don't Go (instrumental) (4:01)
Review: Washington's Fort Knox Five have literally always been doing their thang. The quartet is made up of Sid Barcelona, Jon Horvath, Rob Myers and Steve Raskin, a collaboration of musicians who have given us a wonderful selection of music across many a genre. They've almost always appeared on their of Fort Knox label, so this new single for the Dinked imprint feels like a welcomed change in their releasing pattern. It's a one-track situation here, but "Don't Go" is a funk bomb capable of deconstructing any dancefloor form here to Detroit, and Joe Quarteman's zesty vocals are immediately hummable. Check that instrumental cut, too - pure, break joy!

Be What You Wanna Be (4:22)
Soul Party Tune (3:29)
Review: Djar One returns to his Beats House imprint with a 7" that's as funky and groovy as the label's name; a natural home to puristic breakbeat madness that you'll find hard to get from anywhere else. "Be What You Wanna Be" is fast, full of life and percussive swing, and successfully manages to blend the best elements of soul and hip-hop together under one funky roof. "Soul Party Tune", the banger residing on the flipside, has a more West-coast approach, bringing in a noticeable layer of surf rock to truly mash things up good and proper. This is an EP of those wishing to dish out a tune and get the whole place moving...

Dimenzio - "Bamba"
Marius Cultier - "Diamant"
Review: Two Gilles Peterson classics on one 7 inch !! As per usual, the unstoppable Mukatsuku delivers the undeliverable, and somehow the label boss Nik Weston has managed to license a pair of sought after tunes to find on the second-hand market. It's the second instalment of the Club Jazz series with this 45 a Hungary vs France sound clash.Hungary easily wins this one thanks to the sublime rhythm that is "Bamba" by Dimenzio, an inimitable jazz-dance leviathan that manages to mash-up all the right elements of jazz together with something a little weirder and electronic - a truly supreme piece of music that is recommended to ANYONE. Marius Culter's "Diamant" is a high calibre jazz funk missile, and works beautifully as a stand-alone, but its somewhat swamped by the sheer quality of its counterpart. Recommended. As played by Dean Rudland, Mr Thing, Ashely Beedle, Faze Action,Red Greg,Scrimshire,Frank Booker,Nancy Noise and Pete from On The Corner Records etc

Banda Black Rio - "Miss Cheryl" (3:47)
Miele - "Melo Do Tagarela (Rapper's Delight)" (instrumental) (4:10)
Review: Although Brazil's Banda Black Rio remain infamous for the albums that they recorded in the late 1970s, two beautiful LPs that rode that singular wave of samba-ridden jazz dance, 1980's "Miss Cheryl" is an outstanding tune, and we can hear why RCA picked it up back in the day. Mr Bongo provides us with the reissue here and, if you haven't heard it, it's an absolute delight which switches between disco, psych, and something inherently Brazilian - there's even a wacky synth in there, for good measure. Compatriot Miele appears on the flip with "Melo Do Tagarela (Rappers Delight)", a sublime slice of early, electronic boogie that sounds as fresh today as it did back at the tail end of the 70s. A devious little reissue that you should own...

It's Still Great To Be Here (4:00)
I Want My Candy Girl Back (3:45)
Review: This fine, party-starting 7" single from Jorun Bombay looks to the Jackson 5 for inspiration. A-side "It's Still Great To Be Here" is a tasteful remix of the Jackson family disco-pop track of the same name, featuring some new musical elements supplied by conga player Chris Cookson and keyboardist Forrest Dank. On the flip, Bombay delivers a version of New Edition's "Candy Girl", replacing the original's electrofunk backing track with the Jackson 5's "ABC" (which, of course, was famously sampled on the New Edition track). It's a brilliant idea, superbly executed, and should get a great response when played to packed dancefloors.

I'm For Real (4:07)
Stay The Night (Mr Carmack remix) (3:55)
Review: Adam Mori aka B.Bravo is back like a thick gush of smoke filling up the dance floor, and the Brownswood-Bleep associate is in no mood to wait till the warm up set is done. These two new smokers for the Bastard Jazz imprint are pure class, every bit as sexy and seductive as we've come to expect from the producer, starting with the sultry claps and bass of the excellent "Im For Real", a sun-scorched killer of a tune, fit for riding shotgun and turing the rooftop down. On the flipside, Mr Carmack detunes "Stay The Night" down to a funky, mid-tempo level, and it's just about the grooviest of boogie tracks that we've heard in a while. Think Daft Punk meets Willie Hutch. Wonderful.

You Got It Right (2:35)
Solar Blast (3:02)
Review: Misha Panfilov is a man of many talents. Not only is the Estonian producer an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, but he's also something of a sonic magpie. To date, his fuzzy musical output has included revivalist jazz-funk, space-age analogue electronica, and bossanova inspired easy listening. His core sound, though, remains funk, which he mostly explores on the Misha Panfilov Sound Combo releases. "You Got It Right" is typically psychedelic, with Panfilov peppering a low-slung groove with all manner of musical solos and Eastern-influenced chants. The hallucinatory dancefloor fun continues on the flip, where the constantly rising "Solar Blast" - all dusty analogue synths, wavy flute solos and killer funk breaks - cuts an impressively tipsy figure.

Review: After releases on Goodgroove and Riddim Fruit, The Allergies, aka Bristol nu-funk duo DJ Moneyshot and Rackabeat, found a welcome home in Jalapeno for their debut album, As We Do Our Thing, which was released earlier this year. Vinyl fans sore at the lack of the album in their preferred format will find consolation in the fact two gleaming highlights now feature on this 45 for Jalapeno. Up top, the smart soul sampling and tight breakbeat patterns of "Love's Supposed To Be" represent all that is good about the party-starting style of The Allergies, whilst "As We Do Our Thing" is a more midtempo horn funker.

Review: Taken from Lee's brand new album Special Night "Make The World" is Fields at his finest, fieriest and funkiest - a message of clear unity delivered with his signature gutsy vocals over a beautifully tight groove from The Expressions. Rolling with a real sense of momentum and cool drama, Fields and his troupe still have heaps of love to give. The feeling's mutual too.

Review: Like deep funk? Then you'd surely know of the legendary Keb Darge: the Scottish DJ who invented the term. Known as a leading authority on funk and soul music of the 1960s and beyond, he went from modest beginnings in Wigan, before moving to London in the '70s, bringing the sounds of Northern Soul to punters in the capital. Namely His 'Legendary Deep Funk' night at Soho's seminal strip club turned music venue Madame Jojo's. Following up his last compilation put together with Paul Weller; 2009's Lost & Found (Real R'N'B & Soul) LP, Darge presents hits from the 'Deep Funk' series to celebrate BBE's 20th year. Diggers will most certainly appreciate appearances on here such as Soul Drifter's "Funky Brother", Kenny Dope's edit of Family Of Eve's much sampled "I Wanna Be Loved By You", Joe Washington's "Blueberry Hill" and the classic "Love Call" by Ramsay and Company amongst many others.

Glue Bag Flags (3:36)
Review: Jalapeno's northern funkers Smoove & Turrell gear up for their fourth studio album Crowd Posada with two superlative songs that at once demonstrate their range and innate soul ability. "Could Have Been A Lady" has a deep bluesy rock twang to its groove with just a toe or two in the pub while the curiously titled "Glue Bag Flags" takes us on a much sleazier trip with samples, a slinky bassline, a perfectly executed vocal Q&A and a zero-to-sixty tempo switch when you least expect it. Bring on the album.

Review: Little Beat Different Issues will focus on Eastern European reissues previously unavailable to Western markets. The first release is a compilation by Czech electronic music pioneers ORM, which was comprised of Petr and Pavel Orm. According to LBDI, they 'quickly rose to fame as the country's eminent pop producers'. Featured here are the brothers' own recordings from four different albums, released between 1979 and 1984. Here, their sound and artistic direction was remarkably different to their mainstream productions. Be prepared for some spacey and cosmic funk vibes full of sleazy guitar licks, infectious synth bass and much vintage synthesizer flair.

On The Ropes (instrumental) (3:19)
Review: Melbourne is home to one of the strongest funk revival scenes on the planet. Amongst the scene's heaviest hitters - in more than one sense - is drummer-turned-producer Ivan Kkatchoyan. Having been part of heavy funk combo Cookin' On 3 Burners since the dawn of the millennium, he's now the driving force behind Choi Records. His heavy funk rhythms and astute period production are at the heart of Mayfield's "On The Ropes", which also includes some stellar horns and - in its A-side form, at least - some on-point vocals from Carla Troiano. Like previous Choi releases by Traffic and Fulton Street, it's a revivalist funk treat.

Kunming Beats (1:48)
Review: The latest artist to join Dinked's roster of soul and funk obsessives is DJ D.S.K, a China-based Brit who grew up cutting and scratching hip-hop and old funk breaks. The three tracks showcased here seem to be built around samples from tasty old funk bombs, from cut-up and rearranged breaks, to punchy horn lines and low-slung basslines. Lead cut "Lamine" is particularly potent, featuring as it does DJ-friendly drum breaks, jangling soul guitars, rubbery bass and a floor-friendly rhythm track. Flip for the looser, electric piano-heavy dancefloor strut of "Police Woman", and the dusty, head-nodding, trumpet-laden hip-hop bounce of "Kumming Beats" (and, yes, it's a sneaky cut-up of an old James Brown tune).

It's literally brilliant, too; just check the Shuggy style vocal leans on "Due Consideration" or the swooning Roy Ayers style vibraphone magic of "Sweet Bird" and you'll see exactly what we mean. Stunning.

Revolution (Mr Bird remix) (3:42)
Review: The Agogo imprint is on fire as of late, delivering powerful , and consistently excellent, wave of funk and soul from every angle. This time its Savages Y Suefo who take the helm, three artists who know how to get down and dirty with beats; they've already appeared on the label several times before and, along with some other like-minded beat junkies, know exactly how to contribute to this wild and multi-faceted catalogue. "Revolution" is an all-out party tune, a funky little number with a wacky groove and Ashley Slater's rugged vocals to add the dance floor mood; Mr Bird's remix adds a little 4/4 flavour to the beats, injecting some more power to those kicks, and making this a total club bomb.

The Disciples - "In Loving Memory" (3:03)
All Nations Quartet - "He Spoke" (3:02)
Review: Serial alias addict, Kris Holmes returns with a double side of split personality: The Disciples is a rough, bluesy layered piece of slo-mo surf rock where the drums only just keep up and the organs provide heavy soul salvation. "He Spoke" shows Kris on much more of an African inspired trip. Similarly hefty organs power the main groove but there's more uplift in the riff and instrumentation. Insatiable.
