Phalanx (5:11)
Warg (7:04)
Review: The master of dark journey tracks known as Recondite returns, this time for Scuba's esteemed Hotflush imprint. The sombre and doomy vibes of the title track are a bit more restrained than Lorenz Brunner's usual tracks but just as foreboding with those now trademark 'wonky' melodies which truly work a treat. "Warg" on the flip has a bit more momentum and definitely more elements incorporated into its sound. It's funky, in a brooding way of course; with another epic melody for some seriously dramatic dancefloor moments that he's known for.

Restless (dub) (6:16)
Mists Of Time (5:05)
Aliena's Journey (4:55)
Review: Josh Brent's Schatrax imprint is responsible for some of the most seminal techno and house from the nineties and we're glad to see that the new generation now appreciates his stuff too; about time! He re-issues some legendary tracks from his back catalogue for the heads. "Restless (dub)" is some nefarious dancefloor drama in the vein of Detroit legend Suburban Night's earlier stuff. The gorgeous ambient house excursion "Mists Of Time" delves into the exotic wonderfully while "Aliena's Journey" (originally released on the self titled 1998 album)" is a serving of soulful and emotive deep house that's as good as anything Fresh 'N Low were going at the time as well.

Review: MOi? Who? Give it a listen and we'll give you one guess. His sound is unmistakeable isn't it. The new Ukrainian hero of rolling and funky minimal is back under yet another alias (and imprint) and he's already up to number four. "Track 1" on the A side is built for peak time headrushes on the dancefloors of Concrete and Hoppetosse. Expect this one to de destroying crowds of the underground this Summer! The B side offering is a bit more stripped; the fierce bass supported by some swirling and hypnotic pads on this surefire DJ tool that'll make even Ion Ludwig step up his game!

Uncle Sens (7:22)
Copacul Vietii (7:22)
Speologie (7:12)
Zibi (7:45)
Review: Raresh's Metereze imprint is back with some more emerging homegrown talent, this time in the form of up and comer Limpid. He is also part of duo Alsi, who have released on Body Parts, Colourful and Project London. On the A side "Uncle Sens" is emotive and sexy deep house with those hypnotising keys and that killer bassline doing most of the work over a.. well, pretty minimal groove! "Shine" follows in suit with its swirling pads and funky yet restrained style: which sums up why these Romanians are so good at their craft. On the flip "Speologie" gets a taste for some reduced acid sensibilities like fellow label mate Melodie: this one's sick! Finally "Zibi" gets back to the emotive groove but has a bit more guts about it, compared to the first side. Featuring sombre atmosphere, subdued melodics and a very tight rhythm powering away beneath. This guy's one to watch!

Review: While he's barely paused for breath in the last decade, it's still been eight years since Fumiya Tanaka delivered his last album, Unknown 3. The epitome of long overdue, You Find The Key is his fourth album. Interestingly, it sees the 44 year-old, Japanese producer tweaking his now familiar bass-heavy minimal techno blueprint. Thrillingly, the bass lines are bolder and jauntier, and the beats jazzier, resulting in an altogether funkier take on the minimal techno style. Of course, there are still moments that recall his previous work - see the deep and dubby "Swallowed Memory" - but it's those that take a sideways step towards funk-fuelled pastures ("Munich Uncertain", "The Only Your Researching") that stand out.

Shoot The Bar (7:46)
Primary Colours (6:51)
Oliva Funk (6:31)
Review: Florence based label Bosconi is back with 100 Hz aka UK legends Lee Renacre and James Chapman who have been around since the late eighties. This is their second release on the Italian imprint; their Mila EP was their first for the label back in 2009. On the A side we have a re-issue of their 1989 track "Shoot The Bar" a sturdy and cyclical house groove on the tougher side of things with a nice double bass holding the track above a tight rhythm and dreamy Rhodes piano. "Primary Colours" sounds more like minimal, but given more of an edge by all the dusty and lively analogue machines that power it along. Its bumpy bass and restrained synth stabs supporting some simplistic rhythms and works quite well. Finally "Oliva Funk" is more of a classic NYC house cut, those rapid fire cowbell strikes will help it bear even more resemblance to classic Kerri Chandler style vibes.

Review: Mehdi Djebali's back everyone: look out! Always bringing the goods on his eponymous vinyl only imprint, number 10 for the label sees the Frenchman throw down some more rolling, downright funky and undeniably sensual grooves to make discerning dancefloors sweat. Starting out with the smooth liquid groove of "The Nine Stars" which you could imagine warming up a heaving dancefloor just after midnight at Concrete. On the flip there's the ultra deep and super sexy "A Juiced Lie" that calls to mind the classic Parisan deep house sound of the early noughties by local heroes Jerome Pacman or D'julz.

Moorthon II (8:55)
Kleiner Vogel (7:48)
Review: One third of Innervisions, one half of Ame and The Howling and one of the all round modern greats of techno and house music. Under his own name for the first time, Frank Wiedemann unleashes more sure-fire and emotive dancefloor intelligence on The Moorthon EP. Starting out with the soulful tech house bounce of "Moorthon II" he gets more on the vibe you know him for ie: moody and epic with "Kleiner Vogel" with its dark strings, wonky synth leads and adrenalised rhythm. But he saves the best for last on the bittersweet techno-soul of "Moorthon I" featuring some immaculate programming and truly stunning synth textures from a true master of the sound.

Lady Aetherius (6:47)
Nu Comet (6:31)
Monday Greens (7:14)
Skool Tool (6:51)
Review: New Jersey house/techno imprint serves up its fifth release by Christian Alexander Browne following up great ones by Romanians Moratu and Sublee. On first track "Lady Aetherius" he makes the kind of emotive, Detroit inspired techno-soul that you'd consider as a given for any Motor City producer.. but this guy's from London! On "Nu Comet" he provides some deep, sensual and downright spiritual house vibes reminiscent of classic Prescription Records type stuff. On the flip "Monday Greens" throws us a bit of a curveball and gets all minimal on us: minimal in ultra deep and a kind of glitchy early Perlon/Minibar way, which works well for us! Finally "Skool Tool" is a rusty vintage jam that pushes those analogue machines to their limits, supported by SH-101 grunt and 909 hiss and stomp.

Mouche Tse Tse (Melchior Productions dub) (7:05)
June (Charles Webster November mix) (8:16)
Review: We've said it once and we'll say it again; Apollonia: what a powerhouse! Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom and Shonky have taken house music by storm since collaborating as a DJ collective, production team and label. Their 2014 full length (and Phillipe Zdar/Alexkid co-produced) effort Tour A Tour is still getting some mileage, this time via some remixes. The first, "Mouche Tse Tse" is re-rubbed by minimal techno legend Thomas Melchior and is the kind of stripped and hypnotic afterhours business you'd expect from him and still retains the funk and groove from the original. On the flip is "June" remixed by Nottingham deep house maestro Charles Webster and it's as gorgeous as always. With the term deep house used so flippantly these days, Webster reminds us all how it's done on this fine track.

Garaldo (John Dimas remix) (7:06)
Machette (7:07)
Review: French label La Vie En Rose is run by legend of the Paris/London scene Terrence:Terry, so you can trust the DJ in this case! Moreover, Ibiza-based Brits Acid Mondays sure are on a roll right now and they're serving us with another selection of slinky tech house beats to soundtrack White Isle hedonism on "Garaldo". Greek producer John Dimas steps up for a remix which is pretty good; minimal, broken, bumping and emotive in a style reminiscent of those Stablo records a few years ago. On the flip the second original track "Machette" is dark, main room tech house with tribal drums and a monster bassline that's perfect for the pre peak-time or sunrise set alike.

Review: Ukranian minimal wunderkind Mulen is back and we too are rubbing our hands in excitement every time he releases something new of late. Sometimes going under the name iO, sometimes iO (Mulen) and now Mulenv (just to confuse us!) but either way: it's always quality. "Blindness" is the rolling, funky, breaks driven and hypnotic groove as heard on his recent Jam EP on Propaganda. On the flip "The Cutter" follows in suit with its jagged rhythm and hip hop samples but is much deeper and suited more for the morning set where things get properly weird.

Dar Stai Putin (8:09)
Review: Emerging minimal producer, no guesses where this guy's from but he's got credentials: having released previously on Cardinal, BodyParts and All Inn Black. "Hyperclub" on the A-side is the kind of dusty, druggy and rolling minimal groove you hear from the likes of fellow homeboys Livio & Roby or Nu Zau: strictly after-hours business (we love it!). On the flip things get more high-tech on "Dar Stai Pulin", this is a smooth and deep yet adrenalised groove that reminds us more of Barac or Cristi Cons. Interested yet?

Tropic Duo (7:22)
Review: Spain's Giuseppe Tuccillo has been on the scene for 20 years, releasing on a who's who of labels that we don't have enough space to mention but let's just namedrop legends like Nite Grooves and King Street through to 20:20 Vision and 8 bit to name just a few. He now teams up with Frenchman Djebali on his eponymous imprint for the Red Tropic EP. On the A side "The Red Circle" is the kind of slinky and clean cut minimal tech house that calls to mind the sound of Dan Ghenacia's Freak N' Chic imprint, said to have been an influence on Djebali in the early noughties: this one's pretty funky. On the B side "Tropic Duo" is a more soulful Detroit inspired number reminiscent of Aril Brikha's finest work with those lush and entrancing Ensoniq EMS style stabs doing the business.

No More Space (7:11)
Review: Bucharest minimal hero Arapu presents the second release on his own new Liniar imprint and its business as usual really: trippy and hypnotic deepness for weirdo afterhours shenanigans. He's got some fierce competition that's for sure, but we think Arapu's one of the best of the bunch at the moment; as demonstrated on the title track with its infectious swing and darkly funked-up groove hypnotising you into submission. On the flip "So Doo" is probably the most restrained offering on here, letting its sombre sound design do most of the work backed by a gutsy stomp. Finally "No More Space" hammers the message home on this sinister and tunnelling groove which chugs away like a steamtrain through the reductionist darklands.

Review: Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers are really on a roll at the moment with their Tuskegee imprint. This time they've got Frankfurter Butch on board for some sure fire tech house for any situation. "Jack The System" is a nasty acid excursion; the 303 workout on this is totally off the scale! Don't worry there's a "Jack a Pella" which focuses on those wonderfully.. well, jacking vocals. On the flip we've got "The Message" which keeps on with it's love of the acid life, but this one's deeper, darker and more of a journey track; think "Acid Eiffel" or something along those lines. Finally there's a "Message-A-Pella", of course for those of you more interested in the tough guy monologue.
