Review: Having only launched in 2015, no one was expecting DDD to lay out a Record Store Day bounty quite so soon. But boy are we glad they have. 500 copies on 180g triple vinyl from some of the nu disco and proper deep house scene's most respected and exciting individuals, it's a beautifully restrained collection of never-to-be-released-again grooves that's built to last. From the swooning Moodymannisms of MyStep's "Get Over" to the jazzy sprinkles and lighter footed filtered flavour of M Ono's "Little Fat Sparrow", these tracks will never tire. Jump on them before it's too late.

Come To Me (Nik Weston official extended re-edit) (5:39)
Come To Me (remastered) (4:39)
LA Walk (Nik Weston extended re-edit) (6:10)
Review: It would be fair to say that Estiban Lindsay's one and only album, 1980's L.A Walk, is something of a sought-after rarity. Considered by many disco/boogie diggers to be a must-have, original copies of the Canadian classic currently change hands for three-figure sums online. Ever the dusty-fingered digger, Nik Weston has managed to license two tracks from the album after hearing global trotting DJ Hunee championing the main track in his sets in 2015 , and provides his own extended dancefloor re-edits. Both are subtly done, with Weston teasing out Lindsay's grooves and making more of his deliciously soulful versions, all without adding needless house drums or contemporary production tricks. The EP also contains the original version of the warm, disco-boogie gem "Come To Me". As played by Craig Charles (BBC 6 Music), Hunee, Eddie C, Tom Noble, Admin, Mike Shaw, Volcov, Frank Booker, Red Greg, Ashley Beedle, Joey Negro, Dom Servini, Miles Eastwick, Faze Action and many more...

Good Inside (7:14)
Come Back Home (original disco version) (6:27)
4006 (5:57)
Review: Since launching in 2012, the Razor N Tape label has been one of the edit scene's most consistent labels. Along the way, they've released killer reworks from some impressive names, including Dimitri From Paris, Ron Basejam and Late Night Tuff Guy. Their latest high-profile recruit is Glaswegian disco digger and all round nice guy Al Kent. The three cuts here are a little tougher and more house-friendly than his often purist extensions, but still retain the loose, celebratory feel of his vintage source material. Choose between the soulful brilliance of "Come Back Home (Original Disco Version)", the low-slung, filter-and-delay boasting bounce of the thumping "Good Inside", and the no-nonsense disco-funk shuffle of "4006".

All Night Night Rumble (Nebraska edit) (5:41)
Don't Abuse It (Skylevel edit) (4:39)
Dreaming (Skylevel edit) (4:40)
Review: The anonymous Skylevel operation has been stealthily slipping out eminently playable edits since 2010, the height of the disco edit era! It's a mark of the quality of their 12"s that Skylevel remains an ongoing concern whilst other edit operations have fallen by the way side. Number eight in the series sees the hugely skilled Nebraska step up with a real pearler of a lead edit, "All Night Rumble," a afro-disco loopathon that you can easily forsee finding a permanent home in the record box of Dan Snaith. On the flip, it's all Skylevel with "Don't Abuse It" a slinky little disco groover that lifts the vocal from Little Milton's "Let Me Down Easy," whilst "Dreaming" heads straight for the stars for a sublime slice of late night disco action.

Get Down Edits - "Stop On By" (6:21)
Osmose - "Get Ready" (6:09)
Review: Saying that Editor's Kutz is going string would be an understatement, and although the label are only on their seventh outing to date, it feels like much longer that we've been graced with their inimitable style of disco editing. There's four cuts this time, a timeless bunch of disco groovers that have been re-moulded for the modern ear and its need for a steady but of 4/4. "Shining Bright" from VinylAddicted is any disco lover's dream come true, while Dan Johnson's "Love Affair" is a solid, fist-pumping bomb with one mighty bassline. On the B-side, "Stop On By" is more laid-back and cooler in its approach, but "Get Ready" is the shining star here, a deep, wet slice of dynamite funk that you could leave on repeat for hours on end.

Review: Hometaping Is Killing Music, the Scottish imprint devoted to the underground, is back this time with Italian young gun Nicholas on the Bonus Beats 1 EP. Things kick off with "Hot Nights" which offers as deadly a sample usage of Minnie Ripperton as the Linkwood classic "R.I.P.". Also on the A side is "Atmo" featuring Paul Cut; more deep and soulful funk grooves for fans of KDJ style jams. On the flip we've got the pumping percussive DJ tool "Together (Beats)" which is a welcome addition to any serious DJs arsenal and finally "Something To Believe" which gets back on the soul train in delightful '70s retrovert fashion.

Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee - "Stellar Dub" (5:11)
The Silver Rider - "Good Luvin' Baby" (7:19)
Doc Jam - "In Your Eyes" (5:28)
Review: There's usually plenty of A-grade material to be found in the Editor's Kutz EPs, and this sixth volume in the popular re-edit series is no different. Chief amongst these is The Silver Rider's "Good Lovin' Baby", a chunky disco-funk roller - slightly straightened out for contemporary dancefloors - that boasts a terrific, string-drenched breakdown. There's also something deliciously glassy-eyed about Doc Jam's "In Your Eyes", a tasty, house style loop-jam that expertly cuts up a familiar disco classic. Elsewhere, Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee provide a dubby take on Marcos Valle's Brazilian boogie classic "Estrelar" ("Stellar Dub"), and Vinyladdicted joins forces with Sleazy McQueen for a trip into groovy, AOR disco territory.

Vandre (Marvin & Guy Halal sensation) (8:06)
Ossain (8:03)
Dengo (6:26)
Review: Having established themselves as purveyors of fine, Middle Eastern-inspired fare, Disco Halal has decided to apply their magic touch to South American music, with the assistance of specialists Selvagem and Carrot Green. As usual, the emphasis is on blending obscure source material with original music and production. This works particularly well on "Vandre", where an acoustic samba number is turned into a bubbling, Balearic house gem via glistening electronics, synthesized marimba lines and metronomic beats. Marvin and Guy go even further on their remix, turning in a blissful deep house chugger. Flip for the low-slung Brazilian disco-funk of "Dengo" and "Ossain", a misty-eyed, sunrise house number blessed with all manner of (sampled) Brazilian instrumentation.

Devil The Difference (future dub) (5:22)
Review: Ever since their first releases on 20:20 Vision back in 2005, Art Of Tones have steadily grown into purveyors of fine deep house, and you can rest assured that you'll always receive nothing but quality from them. As of late, they've been more closely associated to London's House Of Disco Records, an imprint onto which they return to herein with three smackers, starting with the disco-laced groove that is "Devil The Difference", a soulful house joint with nothing but vibes spilling from every corner. On the flip, "Boogie With Billy" adopts a similar formula to a more electronic rhythm that recalls material from the mighty 80's imprint SAM, while the 'future dub' of "Devil The Difference" twists the original into a deeper, more heady cut for the deep hours...

Let's Lovedance Tonight (Danny Krivit re-edit) (5:51)
Let's Lovedance Tonight (original version) (6:40)
Review: Danny Krivit's fine re-edit of Gary's Gang classic "Let's Lovedance Tonight" first surfaced on Nervous Records back in 2007, and has been something of an in-demand item with disco DJs ever since. This, then, is a more than welcome reissue. The genius of Krivit's scalpel job is that it merely emphasizes the sections of the original that dancefloors want to hear; specifically, the acoustic guitar and organ-heavy groove, killer drum breaks and winding saxophone lines. It's simple but devilishly effective. For those seeking the full vocal experience, the original 1979 12" version is included on the flip.

Around You Go
2 Nights In Armenia
ArpB
Review: After his Kinfolk released collab with Otologic's Nick Murrary, Kris Baha makes a welcome return to his Power Station creation. A versatile five track EP that will get you through the night, one pictures Yello's virgin ketamine experiments on 'Mind Your Head' before 'Jeff' comes to the party with his mad professor dub, giving you whiplash with its belting beats and crashing guitar stabs. Originally designed as an hour long opening score for the namesake Melbourne club night, 'Around You Go' is an edited warm up tool, the crossroad between Dusseldorf and Elettronica Meccanica. If issued in 1983, '2 Nights in Armenia' would have lived on as a Cosmic classic while 'ArpB' is the listeners' exit music, a fork hanging from the power socket.

Propellerdisco (3:29)
Review: If this smart re-edit 12" is anything to go by, Bordello A Parigi and Public Possession man Hysteric owns some killer records. Released as part of the Under The Influence series, Mappamondo boasts a quartet of intriguing reworks of little-known gems. He begins with the whistling synthesizer lines, modem bleeps and rubbery disco groove of "Computer Wars", before taking a trip to Persia on the unfeasibly exotic "Belly Dance Disco". Flip for the Balearic-goes-camp, shirts-off-in-Rimini flex of dreamy Italo-disco rework "My Man", and the strutting, Magueritas-style cheeriness of jaunty Italo-disco dancer "Propellerdisco". All four reworks are subtle and spot-on, making this one of the most essential re-edit singles of recent times.

Mangwana (Paradise 89 dub)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: Faze Action return with a brand new 12", teaming up with Zimbabwean born Zeke Manyika to create "Mangwana". Sung in Zeke's native Shona, and taking influences from Mory Kante, South African Kwaito to early house, Faze Action manage to create a record that harks back yet still has a modern and contemporary feel and is set to be the soundtrack to countless festivals and outdoor parties this summer.

The title track is followed by the stunning "Chiiko", featuring Zeke's vocals enriched by Rob's 'cello's with African rhythms floating you away to another tropical world. A Vision of Panorama turns up the dial with a stunning mix on the flip side. A new bass line adds to some quality keyboard work. Finally the brothers deliver are more stripped out dub "Paradise '89 Mix" tailored for the peak time.

Review: Cosmic Pint Glass, a Norwich imprint with the best label name ever, now tap Slovenian duo Ichisan & Nakova for some truly adorable nu disco goodness on the "Princesa EP. The title track's electronic piano solo above a funky bass and a cheesy yet infectious arpeggio totally rules! But it's the Ruf Dug remix which really gets a groove on, with the addition of those 80's FM synth xylophone presets: nice touch. The Jonathan Krisp remix of "MRK" is a smooth and emotive groove with some razor sharp synths and bleepy bass. Nice one!

Review: A warning for all us lazy catchall-ists, the concept of African music is thrown around far too readily here in the west. The continent is larger than mainland Europe, China and Australia combined and loaded with more styles than drum & bass has subgenres. Here are four more unique musical visions from the great continent; dubby highlife ("Liquid Lagos") shamanic lo-fi acid tech ("Fuji"), space disco ("Listen To The Beats Of Your Heart") and straight up wisdom ("Who Owns The Land") And if that's not enough to tempt you, all proceeds go to Human Rights Justice Group, Nigeria, too.

Review: The latest Transatlantyk transmission sees the killer Polish label revisit Ptaki's sublime debut Lp Przelot in the company of celebrated contemporaries Eltron John and Das Komplex for a remix 12". Pun fan Eltron John leads the way, hogging the A-side with a 10-minute rework of "Sloneczny Pyl" that transforms the ambient original into a skipping house cut primed for the sun-glistening summer afternoons on a crowded terrace. Das Komplex offers a change in mood on his remix of "Ostatni Kurs", flushing the track with a sense of contemplation and melancholia through canny usage of delay, whilst Ptaki slow it right down with bonus original Balearic cut "Taniec Na Wodzie."

Charming from the off-beat funk of "7 8 E 1", we're soon hammered by the steady stamps of "Botoque", massaged by the come-to-bed soul of "Formula 1" and whipped into a shamanistic frenzy by the percussion-fuelled "E Um Barato". Review: Spacers are perhaps one of the oddest soul groups to come out of Chicago, and their short-lived years were packed with quality releases that are much coveted by the diggers and samplers these days. Crates Of Soul have pressed 200 copies of "Do What You Can Do", a quirky, lo-fi soul tune that takes the sounds of the 70's to their outer limits, and as the band's name suggests, there is a clear sound of the extraterrestrial within the mix. "Don't Stop" is funkier and less odd, but equally excellent and an absolute bomb on the floor. Act fast, people, this is the dope stuff!

Four tracks deep, this 12" has that slinky, glossy feel to it that sounds just right on Razor N Tape, with the Love Unlimited Orchestra does disco house shuffle of "Lovin'" the pick of the A-side cuts. Flip over and "Moovish" sees young Loz veer off into heavily filtered house territory, throwing in what sounds like some nifty RAMP sampling while he's at it. The appropriately-titled "Something Special" rounds out the 12" in fine style with a bit of a French Touch.

BBE has harnessed these skills for From The Archive, a compilation of - in the DJ/producer's own words - "music that I've discovered that I thought would be interesting to share". It's a typically deep, soulful and varied affair, beginning with the horizontal jazz-funk bliss of Are & Be before variously touching on jazzy, soft-focus U.S house (a superb Chez Damier rework of The Urban Cru), obscure boogie (TGB), crossover disco-funk (Hot Quisine), and floor-friendly broken beat (Shokazulu, Bembe Segue).
