Review: Bartellow is German producer Beni Brachtel, an artist that has been in involved with Lovefingers' ESP Institute for some time and as a member of label favourites Tambien, alongside Marvin Schuhmann & Valentino Betz of Public Possession. It's a pretty diverse affair on his debut Pankorama LP, starting off with the rather rather Pal Joey sounding "Sala Sensi" before he dives into some cosmo-balearic tinged ambient on the lovely "Clypp". Dusty swing-fuelled underground house is covered covered on the appropriately titled "Shufflington" or especially the stopmin' "Operator In Excelsis". "Notion" bridges the gap between label head Andrew Hogge's fascination with the exotic and analogue electronics wonderfully.

  1. We Magnify His Name (9:18)
  2. Baby, Baby (6:30)
  3. Basic Principle (4:53)
Review: ** Repress For The Hood Fans ** This much anticipated EP on his own M Plant label sees Detroit legend Robert Hood continue to develop to his Floorplan alias after the recent Living It Up single. The A-Side explores euphoric 90s house tropes in "We Magnify His Name", a peak time piano driven anthem which is as religious an experience to listen to as its name suggests, complete with uplifting gospel vocals. On the flip, Hood explores his darker techno tendencies over two tracks. "Baby Baby" relies more on a cut up vocal sample and a slightly wobbling Motor City leaning bassline and a Model 500 style funk swing to it, provided in no small part by a particularly great guitar lick, while tension and release is offered in spades by a well placed horn sample. "Basic Priciple" meanwhile is a druggier affair propelled by its murky sub bass and techno stabs, the only melody coming from a particularly sinister two note organ line.

Review: Marcel Vogel's ever-ready LIH imprint celebrates six years of juicy, sassy, often illicit disco soul with some of the label's best cuts to date. Ideal for filling any holes in your collection, the likes of Uptown Funk Empire's Pharoah Saunders cover "Freedom", Manmademusic's gospel-level "Circles", Eddie C's tweaking, freaking drum funk "What It Is", Stacy and Peven's stuttering funk "Body Jerkin" still slap and tickle just as stylishly and smoothly as they did when Marcel first prised them from the editor's clutches... And still will in 10, 20 or 50 years-time. Proper dancefloor clobber.

Review: Having previously worked with SBTRKT, Kanye West, Drake, Jesse Ware and Frank Ocean, amongst others, Sampha is no newcomer. This, though, is the British singer, songwriter and producer's debut album, and it's something of an understated gem. One particularly enthusiastic reviewer called it "an R&B album for the ages"; while that may be pushing it a bit, there's no denying that Process is an impressive collection of tracks. The beats are inventive, the electronics crisp, the samples carefully chosen, and the musical touches pitched just right. At the centre of it all stands Sampha, delivering thoughtful, heartfelt and sometimes poignant lyrics in his wonderfully evocative voice.

Review: Up next for Adam Beyer's esteemed Drumcode imprint is Enrico Sangiuliano, a Milan based DJ/producer originally from Reggio Emilia who has been been active on the Italian scene since the early noughties, playing everywhere from clubs to illegal raves. His work of late has been released on sister label Truesoul, Alleanza, Gem Records, Octopus Recordings and Rhythm Converted. On "Moon Rocks", Sangiuliano provides a euphoric, hands in the air anthem with soaring synth leads and seriously humming Reese bassline over a high octane beat. Also on the A side is the mad diva vocal breakdown on "Ghettoblaster" which soon gives way to a dark and tunnelling epic. Finally on the flip, we have two versions of "Dutch Kiss" but for our money it's all about the sombre and emotive IDM vibe of the Inner remix.

Review: Improvised hardware troupe London Modular Alliance - AKA circuit-bending enthusiasts Gavin "Koova" Pykerman, Simon "Yes Effect" Lynch and Pip Williams - are best known for their off-the-cuff live performances, though they've previously delivered well-regarded releases on Applied Rhythmic Technology and Brokntoys. This surprise EP on Hypercolour is equally as impressive, with the trio laying down a quartet of angular-but-funky electro treats (think Autechre's more accessible moments). We're particularly enjoying the snappy, broken beat style hustle of "Civic Society", the Drexciya-style deep sea funk of "Lucid" and the far-out modular ambience of "Saunton", but it's all pretty darn tasty.

Review: Igor Tchkotoua & Dan Duncan met on a flight to Spain and the rest as they say: is history. Their driving minimal/tech house sound has only gotten stronger over the years, culminating in this release for Adam Beyer's esteemed home of hard techno Drumcode. The classic rave techno of "Chemistry" is up there with anything that Alan Fitzpatrick or Special Request have done of late with its adrenalised warehouse euphoria. It's no more Mr. Nice Guy after this though. The powerful stomp of "Ukraine" is Berghain ready with its industrial strength rhythms and harsh static blasts, compressed between doom laden, dubby stabs. Finally on the flip, the brooding dancefloor drama of "Devotion" signals the end with its sinister and mesmerising melodies: reminiscent of Stephan Bodzin yet still powered away by a Berlin style stomp beneath.

Review: Dutch producer Larry De Kat is building up a rather impressive discography. This Pets Recordings debut follows hot on the heels of appearances on Dungeon Meat, Banoffee Pies, Adults Only and Lazare Hoche, amongst others. There's plenty to admire amongst the four tracks, from the post-apocalyptic deep house creepiness of "I Know You Can Hear Me" - all weighty sub-bass, echoing riffs, garage-influenced beats and dusty aural textures - and fluid, tech-tinged deepness of "Amlou", to the shuffling dub-house hustle of "She Doesn't", where ear-catching hand percussion and slowly flowering electronics crowd around a superb, sub-heavy bassline. In other words, it's a rock solid collection of club-ready cuts that ticks a lot of boxes.

Review: Soundway surpass themselves again with this wonderful reissue from the Ghanaian artist Rob, who released two albums back in 1977 for the West African Essiebons label. Rob was a seasoned musician in the 70?s, having recorded and toured with many well known bands. The album is a somewhat Spartan, brooding affair where less is most definitely more as slow burning, hip swaying cosmic funk drenched compositions are offset by wonderful punchy brass arrangements. A slow burning pulse is present throughout with highlights being ''Loose up Yourself'' and the irreplaceable carnal conquest anthem '' Make it Fast, Make it Slow''. Songs of celebration sit alongside other pieces of introspection and socially conscious topics; some might criticise the odd duff notes and occasional raw vocal edge, but this just adds texture to the overall performance and vibe. Without question one of the best reissues of 2012.

Review: Soundway has high hopes for the third album by "underground super-producer" Lord Echo. That set is due to appear in early 2017, and as a taster, they've decided to drop this fine single. "Just Do You" features the vocals of Mara TK of Electric Wire Hustle fame, and is a deliciously cheery chunk of Caribbean inspired dub disco indulgence. It's accompanied by a fine Dub - which, naturally, features more tape delay and a tougher, stripped back groove - and an instrumental version. There's also a bonus cut in the shape of "Only You", which features regular Lord Echo collaborator Toby Laing, best known as a member of globe-trotting Kiwi supergroup Fat Freddy's Drop.

Three years (65-68) and less than 20 releases to its name but every track was serious piece of raw soul from many musicians who went on to life a long life in music. Echoes of Jake & Elwood can be found in Big Daddy Rucker while the surging blues of Arlene Williams will resonate hard with any card carrying Soul Investigators fan and the gospel of Ervin Rucker is so powerful it can raise the dead over 40 years later. With added cameos from Big Daddy's GME imprint, Tramp have created a critical piece of soul history right here.

  1. Vampire Nightclub (feat Seth Troxler) (8:20)
  2. Without You (extended 12" mix) (8:37)
Review: It's been pretty hard to escape the hoo-hah surrounding Art Department ever since YouTube footage surfaced of the dropping "Without You" at the Hot Natured DEMF party back in June. The Juno editorial branch is in complete agreement that such hype is totally justified on this debut release for Crosstown Rebels. "Vampire Night Club" sits across the A Side with a guest spot from Seth Troxler, er, vamping it up on vocals backed by some haunting harmonies from Art Department's Kenny Glasgow. It's the dynamic usage of infectiously dark bass patterns and intermittent synth stabs that help cement the eerie atmosphere that pervades the track. This sense of pulsing menace is transferred to the B Side brilliance of "Without You". Made for play in dark venues where the crunching beat, throbbing bassline and creeped out vocal refrain from Glasgow can reverberate around the walls and your cerebral cortex, "Without You" is destined to become a mainstay in record boxes for many months to come.

And they're doing so with this exclusive vinyl-only four piece that covers some of the finest corners of house music known to man. Art Of Tones gets busy on the loose drums and slappy bass, DJ Spinna puts a new twist on a classic rising hook while Sean McCabe takes us right back to Nu Yorican soul heaven. Review: Until now, Cologne artist and selector Lena Willikens has largely been know for her Djing skills, both the range and dynamism shown when she is in a club, or the more conceptual approach taken with her Sentimental Flashbacks show for Comeme Radio. It's the Cologne label overseen by Matias Aguayo that facilitates the first tangible productions from Willikens in the shape of the dark and dystopian Phantom Delia. Produced with the assistance of Aguayo, the six tracks here are a perfect balance of the rhythmic quirkiness that seems to characterise many a Comeme release and Willikens' own grasp of the odder strains of club music. Traxx's Nation label is offered as a comparison by Comeme, and it's probably Beau Wanzer whose music is closest in spirit to the sound Willikens explores here - excellent music for those selectors that like to strange up the dancefloor.

Review: There's no doubt that Loose Joints' "Is It All Over My Face" is something of a disco classic; arguably, it's one of those records that any discerning disco DJ should have in his or her collection. This reissue features both the popular "Female" and lesser-known "Male" versions - the latter blessed with arguably better percussion and thrillingly eccentric horns but worse vocals - in remastered form. The re-master only serves to highlight the quirkiness and looseness of Arthur Russell and company's playing and Steve D'Aquisto and Russell's deft production. If it's not in your collection, it should be - if only for the celebratory eccentricity of one of disco's baggiest anthems.

Review: In Flangranti's latest project is an interesting one. It features them, and others, creating new tracks from elements of previously unheard recordings by obscure 1980s Swiss outfit Schaltkreis Wasserman, most of which were apparently made under the influence of LSD. The resulting tracks do a good job in putting the cosmic synthesizer refrains and vintage electronics in a new light. For example, Toby Tobias's druggy "Trigger Output" skillfully combines a vintage breakbeat hardcore rhythm and with decidedly psychedelic electronics, while Vahagn's "Voltage Controle" is a sparkling chunk of stylish Italo-disco. Also worth checking is the chugging, arpeggio-driven synthesizer exotica of Additional Hardware's "Resistors & Capacitors", and the intense percussive madness of In Flagranti's "Side Strain".

Here we're treated to an array of sounds as Change's rolling disco jam "Sweet Lady" gets extra chug, Blue Vision's cinematic "Visions" is extended with our focus fully refixed on the cosmic slap bass. Review: New York City's Most Excellent are back with some of the first ever music put to wax by one the label owner's closest friend, Cesar Toribio. They say it best themselves when they tell us that the music "is honest, vulnerable, and exposes parts of his personality that even those who are fortunate to know him." The Brooklynite by way of Tampa, Florida, is an alumni of Berklee's School of Music and recorded "My Dear" in his college dorm room in 2011. "Esa MontaNa se Movera" was great, but that reinterpretation by none other than Joaquin "Joe" Claussell (Sacred Rhythm: a hero of Cesar's) on the flip, has exactly the kind of life affirming vibes on the dancefloor you could expect at his Body & Soul NYC residency. Second track "Respire" was the real joy on here, reminiscent of classic Ron Trent in all its emotive and sensual glory. Mixed by Phil Moffa.

Review: Soundtrack reissues specialists Death Waltz finally deliver what everyone has been waiting for; a newly remastered edition of Angelo Badalamenti's timeless score for Twin Peaks. A project that was first announced back in 2014, Death Waltz have really put the work in here on this double LP presentation. Seeking out engineer Tal Miller to remaster the score, getting the approval of David Lynch on the artwork, sleeve notes from Badalamenti and of course the music itself pressed up on "damn fine coffee" coloured vinyl. Musically speaking, do we really need to describe what is a classic selection of compositions from the American? Both the foreboding "Twin Peaks Theme" and somewhat more soothing "Laura Palmer's Theme" should be singed on the cerebral cortex of any self-respecting fan of culture.

  1. Jinx (6:41)
  2. Scanners (7:21)
Review: Forest Drive West is (or are?) still a mysterious figure to us, but we kinda like it to be that way; there is something pure and intriguing about an artist who prefers to keep themselves in relative shadows nowadays, so we tip our hat to it. The producer has already appeared for the Livity Sound massive, a brief but illuminating cameo for their Dnuos Ytivil offshoot that offered two steely slices of tooled-up techno. He's back with another two-tracker, first up with "Jinx" and its reverberated filter of moody 4/4 barely held together by a swarm of percussion and sporadic kick drums - a true bog room joint! "Scanners", on the B-side, is equally cavernous in texture, dipping and rising at a pace that we're increasingly beginning to see as the Forest Drive West standard; this is techno for those who don't like the genre, or better yet, for the DJs looking for a bit more movement in their sets. We love it. This is a keeper.

Review: The Best Records reissue campaign continues unabated as the Italian label turns to Bariocentro. While the band may have had most of their time in the spotlight in the late 70s, they bowed out with a veritable bomb in the shape of Tittle Tattle, a tightly-wound, punchy slice of uptempo 80s boogie like they just can't make any more. Feel the reverb on the handclaps, the slick guitar chops and Moog-tastic bassline and just try not getting down. This plush reissue comes packed with the radio edit, the full length version, the instrumental and everyone's favourite slice of 80s B side action, the dub mix.

  2. Omi Tutu (10:28)
Review: The arrival of fresh material from Prescription co-founder Ron Trent is always cause for celebration. Happily, this new two track missive from the Chicago deep house legend more than delivers on its promise. A-side "Kinky City" is as melodious and musically rich as you'd expect, with Trent layering evocative vocals, spacey chords, tumbling synth-strings and bubbly electronic motifs on top of a snappy, analogue drum machine groove. He shows off his impeccable piano playing skills on the warm, rich and soulful flipside cut "Omi Tutu", which boasts slightly more organic sounding drum hits and a bassline that evokes memories of "Sueno Latino" and other similarly minded Italian dream house gems.

Review: Terrence Dixon first donned the Population One alias for Metroplex two decades ago, and has been a semi-regular contributor to Juan Aktkins' label ever since. Detroit City At Night finds him in fine form, delivering tracks that blend traditional Motor City techno tropes - hissing hi-hats, spacey electronics, and futurist intent - with warmer keys and organ stabs. Naturally, it feels like a classic Metroplex release, with cuts such as "Going In Circles" - built around spacey melody patterns and swirling, sci-fi textures - and "Down The Lodge" ticking all the right boxes. Best of all, though, is closer "Detroit City At Night", an atmospheric combination of gritty Motor City field recordings and dark, Italo-influenced techno grooves.

iLok 3rd Generation Authorisation Key USB Dongle

More than 10 in stock $41.57
Cat: 631627 Rel: 07 Nov 16

USB device that stores licenses for iLok-enabled software
Notes: How does it work and why do I need one:
The iLok is a special USB device that holds your licenses for iLok-enabled software. Software publishers use the iLok to provide secure protection for their software. When you run their iLok-enabled software, it looks for the software license on your attached iLok.

The Third Generation iLok:
Smaller, faster, and with even greater capacity, the new iLok is here! The Third Generation iLok is fully compatible with software created for the second generation iLok. With its smaller form factor and metal body, it is more robust and less prone to casual damage.

iLok Benefits:
- It's portable - you can authorize your software anywhere it is installed. At home, work, or at a remote location, you can keep your software licenses with you, not on your computer.
- It's convenient and cross-platform - Store your Mac and Windows iLok-enabled software licenses all on a single iLok. A Third Generation iLok can hold over 1500 licenses.
- Worry Free - Your licenses are on the safest, most secure solution: the iLok. With Zero Downtime protection available, you've got 24/7 peace of mind.

Managing your licenses has never been so easy. Using the iLok License Manager application, you can:
- View what is on your iLok(s)
- Download new licenses from participating software publishers
- Manage your licenses, including moving them between iLoks within your account and from your iLoks back to your account
- Transfer licenses to other iLok.com accounts

What do I need in order to use my iLok?

In order to use an iLok, you'll need at least 3 things:
- Your iLok
- A license for the iLok-protected software you want to run (you'll need to have the publisher place this license in your account or send you an Activation code)
- The software that is iLok protected (usually a download from the Publisher's or retailer's website, we do not host those on this site)

Anything else?

Your iLok will need special License Support software in order to talk to the protected software. Your protected software most likely installed this special software, but you can always get the latest version of this software by installing the iLok License Manager.

Review: Ready for a strange soul sensation? Say hello to Henry Wu. After a smattering of outings on 22a and XVI, the Londoner jumps aboard Ho Tep with his first extensive extended document. "Don't Want The Regular" is a hazy twist on slo-mo broken beat, all dreamy and just the right amount of abstract. "Expensive Ghetto" takes the abstract even further with a jazz trumpet that wanders so free it's nearly off the page. "Black Rigsby" is more floor-focused as it looks towards the likes of Detroit with strange filtered synth wriggles and spacy overtones, "Just Negotiate" sits somewhere between Andrew Ashong and Amp Fiddler with its yearning lyrics and hugely enveloping synths and finally "Joint September" closes the show on a reflective jazzy note. Dreamy.

Review: **REPRESS ALERT** Chicago's The Nite Owl Diner originally released "Stay" by local heroine The Black Madonna back in 2014 to much fanfare. A wonderful edit geared for some life affirming moments on late night dancefloors that was no doubt honed by the artist's (known to her Dad as Marea Stamper) skills behind the decks for several years at Windy City institution Smart Bar. On the flip there's the even funkier and discofied "Venus Requiem" full of neon-lit synths and cracking Linn drums; there's an odd familiarity throughout as it builds and builds.. and drops right at that moment to set the dancefloor alight again. It's just one of 'those' kind of tracks and here's your chance to snap up another copy of this remastered gem before it flies off the shelf again.

Review: The vibe stays low down and nasty as Unknown To The Unknown sublabel House Crime rolls into its fourth release. Whoever DJ Club 1235 is, they known how to make a no-nonsense hardware house jam, and "Constant" that leads this record is just that. Straight up gnarly bleeps over a basic stomping beat - sometimes that's all that you need to make a club wrecker. "Trust" is also a particular treat with its slightly more developed lead line and urgent drums, but don't overlook the shorter interlude tracks that make this an EP with many different shades of jack to it.

Review: Pole Jam Vinyl - a wax-only collaboration between Satin Jackets' Glam Jam Artists and Welsh outfit Pole Position Recordings - is always a reliable source of club-ready nu-disco fare. There's naturally much to admire on the label's latest multi-artist EP. Pioneerball kicks things off with the cheery and musically expansive "Deltaplane" - all flailing slap bass, delay-laden hits, sparkling electronics and sharp strings - before Falqo steps up with a chunk of boogie-influenced blue-eyed soul (the deliciously positive "Across The Sea"). On the flip you'll find the pitched down, Balearic minded dub disco of Sasha Anastov's "Sea For Two", and the near horizontal soul smoothness of Gayana's "Since The Night (Klar&PF Mix)".
