Review: How Was Your Life? sees Bristol, UK producer Memotone step away, ever so slightly, from his usual ritualistic folktronics to take on something just as evocative - the sound of the great beyond. Off-planet noises and space-age atmospherics crafted with vintage kit, or near vintage in today's terms, the whole thing was inspired by the purchase of a Millennium-era guitar synth and built largely from studio improvisation. The impact of circumstance and equipment is easy to hear, with limitations presented by the equipment helping in arranging the design of the tracks themselves, which have a sense of loose, transiency, flowing between experimental ambient moods, while elements also serve to introduce and retain structure, so we don't necessarily get lost while venturing deeper into these thick aural environments. With a back catalogue name checking imprints such as Black Acre and Accidental Meetings, not to mention providing source sounds to Batu's Timedance, all those elements are audible here but in totally unique ways.

Review: Bristolian William Yates makes a superb debut here on the cult Trilogy Tapes after impressing with top releases on the likes of Sahko and his own memorecs. His sound is a sprawling, loose one that takes in dusky jazz, psychedelic ambiance and plenty of eccentric and hard-to-define things in between. There are few limitations to the sounds that Yates bastardises here from bluegrass to downbeat to drone. Pieces are lo-fi and ramshackle, with barely there rhythms slowly moving things along beneath the odd warped oboe or twanging blues guitar. It manages to sound both ancient yet thrilling new and inventive as a result and is one of the most idiosyncratic records we've heard for a while.

Review: Magnetic Sunshine will be the fifth studio album from the dynamic sound fusion band The Men From S.P.E.C.T.R.E. The band formed in 1997 and are known for their cinematic grooves and dancefloor destroyers. You could compare this to some sort of James Bond lost movie soundtrack cover but it is so much more than that. Songs romp into Go-Go, pop and fusion, funk and rock music. And that's not all. Check out the beautiful bridges and passages in 'Raven' or the sonic assault on 'Enceladus '. We really like the psychedelia in 'Blackberry Gardens' as well. This unique band is a great example at how music can enthrall and entertain you. This great looking package and cover art comes complete with matching orange vinyl.

Review: The Men They Couldn't Hang were well known in UK punk circles having formed in 1984. The band had a strong connection with The Pogues and toured with David Bowie. Silver Town is their fourth studio album and it gave rise to several singles including 'A Place in the Sun' and 'Rain Steam & Speed.' There is a distinctly British feel to the happy-go-lucky tunes, with musings on plenty of uniquely English things grooves that bring to mind a good old knees up in a barn. This 180 gram audiophile vinyl has a gatefold sleeve and is limited to 500 individually numbered copies on flaming coloured vinyl.

Review: Jazz-funkers Menagerie carry the torch of broken beat and jazzdance into the bleeding-edge present day with 'The Shores Of Infinity'. The Australian band, led by Lance Ferguson, is nominally guided by the spiritual jazz movement of the 1970s, but their sound reflects little of its usual beatless freakouts and croony, culty improvisations. Rather, this LP runs the entire gamut of what could be considered spiritual jazz, moving through, in their own words, myriad zones of "cosmic consciousness, transcendence, and interconnection". In fitting fashion for the genre, just six long-form tracks appear, three on each side, making for a neat, coin-flipped, symmetrical statement in jazz; the balance of the universe reflected in a cosmick vinyl void.
